After the mystery box challenge in Episode 41, the contestants already had a heads up about what is in store for them in MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 42. The episode is titled ‘DIY Pressure Test’ with a runtime of 50 minutes. Billie, after winning the top dish in the previous challenge, will not be competing in this one.
The contestants were asked to write their own pressure test for this challenge, setting the bar high up for themselves and even trying to exceed it. As it is already known, for the top 10 week, the best dishes from each challenge are not only safe from the upcoming Sunday elimination but, also have a chance at winning the shining golden immunity pin.
MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 42 Recap Contains Spoilers
The contestants are given 2 hours to cook their pressure test dish. The pantry, garden, and shelves are all open for them to use. However, the catch of this pressure test challenge is that the judges are looking for the top two dishes that will win the above-mentioned perks and immunity.
As this particular challenge starts, everyone gets on their feet to do their best. We get to know Mindy, Daniel and Keyma’s stories more intricately while they make their individual dishes. We also see the tension and pride swim in the kitchen one after the other dishes come to life in MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 42.
When it is time for tasting Mindy is the first one to bring in her dish, which is a Crispy Fried Snapper with Hot & Sour Sauce. The dish does not only look unbelievably good but also tastes just that way. Julie’s Pork Belly Roast looks delicious and feels delicious but, isn’t the one dish that feels right to secure that immunity space.

Keyma presents a Modern Venezuelan Hallacas which is a glorious dish. Sarah’s Shattered Rose is inspired by Faluda and has a beautiful touch to it. The judges commend Sarah for trying and showing a different side of her than the one that is usually known. Alvin’s dish is called Pork Snacks by Pork Face and it is wrapped in insanely good flavours.
Sea Urchin Spaghetti by Aldo is a good dish but, isn’t cooked perfectly. Montana puts on the table a Roast Banana and White Chocolate Mousse which is yet another good dish that somewhere misses hitting the best dish tag the judges are looking for. Tommy’s Phamcy Pho is similar to Aldo’s dish in that it is good and nice but, not everything is cooked perfectly.
Mindil Sunset is what Daniel brings to the table. It is beautiful and nourishing and the judges experience a full-on rollercoaster ride of flavours when they devour the dish.
