MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 11 Recap: What’s in Your Refrigerator?

Julie, Tommy, Sashi, Miloni, Mindy, Ali, Jenn, John, Max, and Matt have to face the Mystery Box Challenge. MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 11 is called ‘Shannon Bennett Mystery Box Challenge’. Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Shannon will judge the challenge today. The ingredients under the box are veal sweetbreads, iceberg lettuce, papaya, chickpea miso, turmeric, spanner crab, veal sweetbreads, Brazil nuts, Chicken Leg, Tarragon, Kohlrabi.

The contestants get 75 minutes to cook using the ingredients under the mystery box. Four contestants with the least impressive dish will be sent to the Pressure Test Challenge. In the next episode, whoever fails to make a good dish in the Pressure Test will be eliminated.

The 10 contestants in MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 11’s Shannon Bennet Mystery Box Challenge want to give their best and stay safe from the Pressure Test. Ali decides to cook using the sweetbreads for the first time. She shares how her mom used to cook for them using sweetbreads. Ali cooks Kohlrabi tacos with Brazil nut & turmeric popcorn sweetbreads, miso Mayo, pickled papaya and chicken skin salt. The judges love Ali’s dish and appreciate her efforts.

Tommy, Sashi, Julie and Billie also cook the best dishes in the challenge. Tommy serves Chickpea Miso Crab Noodle Soup with Tumeric Oil and Pickled Kohlrabi. Sashi’s dish is Crab Rasam broth with turmeric grilled chicken, poached crab, pickled papaya, kohlrabi and tarragon. Julie makes Roulade & remoulade. Billie’s dish is Turmeric and miso semifreddo with papaya and kohlrabi salsa.

Now, coming to the 4 weak dishes, it was served by Jenn, John, Alvin and Max. Jenn’s pawpaw parfait didn’t have enough balanced flavours. John cooked Roasted Kohlrabi and ajoblanco. John was heartbroken when he couldn’t serve a good dish. Melissa consoles and motivates him. Alvin served overcooked sweetbreads, and Max’s dish had crab shell pieces.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 11 Recap: Final Thoughts

During these 2 days, Shannon Bennet gave the contestants interesting challenges that brought the best out of these home cooks. Some did struggle a lot, but some showed their best sides.
