MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episodes 8 And 9 Review: Best Ice Cream For Immunity

After Nigella Lawson, Yotam Ottolenghi and Massimo Bottura, we saw two Chefs gracing Superstar Week in MasterChef Australia season 13 episodes 8 and 9. In the previous episode, contestant Katrina Dunnett had to bid goodbye to the show as she failed to hero the bread in her dish. In the latest ones, the home cooks battle for immunity.

As revealed in the third episode, the current season will have only 3 immunity pins which Therese, Elisa and Wynona have already won. But the contestants still have a chance to save themselves from elimination by giving the best dish in the mystery box challenge. In episode 8, Clare Smyth gives the contestants her Michelin Mystery Box Challenge. Finally, in the ninth episode, the winners of the mystery box challenge have to succeed in Chef Heston Blumenthal task to secure a place in the series.

Chef Clare Smyth gives an interesting mystery box to the contestants that consist of scampi, peas, wasabi, brandy, lemon, chives, tomatoes and rose geranium. Clare is UK’s first female chef with 3 Michelin star. Several contestants are inspired by her and want to win MasterChef and also become a professional chef. So, every cook gives their best, and most try their hands on scampi pasta. Aaron’s Lasagne, Depinder’s Bombe Alaska, Conor’s Koulourakia, Linda’s Tortellini and Pete’s Scampi with tomato tartare impress the judges’ Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and Jock Zonfrillo.

In the next episode, Chef Heston Blumenthal tells Aaron, Depinder, Conor, Linda and Pete that they have to make breakfast ice cream to win the immunity. The contestants are given unique ingredients like cornflakes, avocado, vegemite, tea and bacon to make their dessert. Well, with Michelin Mystery Box and Heston’s interesting ice cream challenge, MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episodes 8 and 9 got exciting.

As a viewer, you are curious to see how Depinder and Pete will make icecreams using Avacado and Bacon. Both the food items have a peculiar and strong taste, and one cannot imagine ice cream out of it. But the duo ends up making the top 2 dishes using their creativity and passion and show why they deserve to be a part of the show. Aaron’s cornflakes ice cream and Linda’s Earl Grey tea ice cream also make the judges smile. Sadly, Conor’s dish fails to stand out.
