Make Me Believe Plot/Synopsis
Following the two main protagonists, this movie follows a childhood homecoming trope, where two people have known each other for way too long but haven’t seen each other in forever. When they reunite, it is like something has been set off. They either cannot stop hurting each other (she cracked his head open with a ladder) or cannot stop insulting each other (he made it the whole house’s problem to know that she cracked his head open).
There are moments when he doesn’t even acknowledge their past, and she tries her level best to make it work with him. They spend a few hours in prison, and she falls asleep on his shoulder. But their relationship is still in the early stages, so they both take their time to get comfortable. So when she pushes him into the water, and he comes back up with his keys in said water, lost to the waves, he is incredibly annoyed. Things would have never been normal for them.
Reason why he doesn’t think they’re friends is because he has always been romantically interested in her. Considering what kind of genre this film is in, it is predictable, but it is really the angst and the initial interactions that make a rom-com like this so interesting to see. Now that they’re together, everything is going well until that one event that shatters their existence and causes a million doubts to erupt. Spoiler Alert: there is something on her end, some kind of betrayal coming that would change his mind about them.
