Maestro in Blue Season 3 Review: An Enchanting End

After Orestis and Klelia try to move on from the events of season 1 in the last season, Maestro in Blue is back for its (probable) last season. Concluding everything that happened previously, we get to see Klelia and Orestis’s future and where they finally stand as well as what comes out of the investigation into Charalampos’s mysterious death. Will things finally look up for the residents of Paxos or will they continue to be stuck in an abusive cycle?

Maestro in Blue Season 3 Review

There’s an underlying tension and passion in Maestro in Blue Season 3 that was somehow missing in the last season. Concluding the stories from the last two seasons, the season finale is a dreamy watch, with the beautiful Paxos being captured by director Papakaliatis perfectly. With Demosthenes breathing down everyone’s necks, things are also really hot and sticky at the moment and the emotions swirling in the air certainly don’t help.

There’s something magical in the air of the third season, whether it be the way it is edited and shot or simply the fantastic performances (probably both), the series pulls you into its story without a second thought. The relationship between all the characters in this small town is one of its winning traits and in season three, it brings that to life beautifully. The entire series, actually, hinges on these relationships and I think the series does a fantastic job of keeping that front and centre at all times.

The third season truly shines in its storytelling. The editing is a little confusing sometimes but does grow on you. We jump from one thing to another but they all come together beautifully eventually. The series showcases the various emotions of the people associated with the town with depth and constantly keeps us enamoured with said emotions. There are very few moments of thrill, but that’s okay; I feel like no one really expects anyone to be thrilled with this Greek soap for hours on end. It is also quite dramatic at times, but I feel like it works quite well with what the series has turned out to be.

The relationship between Klelia and Orestis is back in full force this season and fans will enjoy it thoroughly. The series’ showcase of love, romance and intimate sequence is quite hypnotic and there’s not a moment where it feels uncomfortable. Although I will admit that the age gap between the lead pair makes me cringe, I think the series attempts to address it well enough. I also enjoyed the nuanced moments where different people try to stand up for what is right in different sequences. However, I will say that a lot of these sequences feel like they have been added to get a rise out of the audiences because the creators don’t follow these sequences through, leaving them to feel half-baked.

What makes Maestro in Blue in general such an impactful experience is the beautiful and haunting background score – it’s simply remarkable. The series brings forth some fascinating twists and turns which were not there last season. It’s interesting how these are peppered in and will get to you when you least expect it. Maestro in Blue Season 3, for me, has outdone it and it’s both entertaining and moving in very different ways. You can’t help but feel for every character in the series because no one is black or white and that’s always the most effective sort of character.

Maestro in Blue Season 3 is arresting in every sense of the term. It’s moving, entertaining and deeply emotional. It ticks all the boxes and makes up for all the issues that I had in the last season. Moreover, the series rounds up all the story threads that it introduces effectively, leaving us to bid goodbye to the series in a believable and satisfying way. All in all, this one’s just so good.

  1. I was very impressed with every aspect of the production. Was not disappointed. There’s enough left to have another season bc the plot is so multi- dimensional. It’s worth doing and would not disappoint!!!
