Love You Long Time Review: Also known as Yung Libro Sa Napanood Ko, the new Filipino movie on Netflix is a good time-bending romance, and mind-bending too for some viewers, directed by Jaime Habac Jr. The cast includes Eisel Serrano, Carlo Aquino, Ana Abad Santos, and Meanne Espinosa. The duration is 1 hour 40 minutes approx.
What would you do if you found out that the person you have been talking to for the last few days and have taken a liking to, is from a different timeline? Would you freak out? Or would you take it to be untrue? How would it affect things between the two of you? Well, this movie might just help you figure things out and a lot more.
Love You Long Time Synopsis
Ikay (Eisel Serrano) is a screenwriter who struggling with her latest script due to her recent breakup. One day, she finds a two-way radio via which she connects with a guy named Uly (Carlo Aquino). Days pass, and the two slowly develop feelings for each other without revealing so. However, despite arriving at the same spot to meet, they don’t find each other. They ultimately realise that they are living in two different timelines. Ikay’s past is Uly’s present, while Ikay’s present is Uly’s future. What happens after this is what the movie is all about.
Love You Long Time Review: Discussion
I have to admit that I found the movie really fun. One can only do so much with a love motif, but the way the makers used the concept of different timelines was really cool. The ending was unexpected, and you need to watch it to experience it.
The way in which the movie comes full circle is very much commendable. While it could have been tough for the viewers to understand, the director and the editor make sure that everything is clear, especially since there are two timelines involved.

The way the romantic angle and the timeline angle go hand-in-hand without taking over each other is also effective. This way, the romance, which has been established very well by the chemistry pulled off seamlessly by Serrano and Aquino, doesn’t get overly dramatic, and neither does the separate-timeline aspect become an issue which is a good thing because the movie isn’t about the timelines but the people in them.

The use of two-way radios keeps things very personal, while the separate timelines showcase the grand scheme of things and how the former transcends the latter. The narrative keeps things simple. This is what makes Love You Long Time a smooth watch.

But there is one issue. The way the truth is revealed towards the end might get some viewers confused. They might find themselves rewinding to analyse what happened and make sense of the end result. But they eventually will. This doesn’t seem deliberate on the part of the makers, although it wouldn’t be entirely wrong even if it was since it involves time which is quite a confusing thing in itself. But it’s upto to viewers how they take it. I found it interesting.
Love You Long Time Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, the movie is an entertaining watch which is a great thing, especially for a love story. It manages to give rise to the urge to wait to find out what’s going on and whether the two people will meet or not. And this is what makes the ending not perfect but apt. After all, life can never be perfect. So my suggestion is to watch it. You’ll like it.

Yung Libro Sa Napanoo Ko is a different movie. It’s a movie starring Bela Padilla and a Korean actor.
ginaya lang nila yung idea sa palabas na YOUR NAME Kimi no Na wa sa japanese drama mangga,
Copied from a Korean Movie Ditto, released in 2022…
Sana nilagyan nyo nalang inspired from Ditto…
so yung banggaan sa kennon sa 1st part eh sa script lang, so most scenes sa baguio ay part ng story or imagination lang para matapos nya yung story……
The corny lines and the performance of the female lead actress were subpar, making it challenging for me to watch the movie for more than 15 minutes.
I agree…pa cute masyado yun female lead on how she moves and talks. Very difficult to watch because it doesnt seem natural.
The lake house- keanu reeves and sandra bullock
Exactly
The corny lines and the performance of the female lead actress were subpar, making it challenging for me to watch the movie for more than 15 minutes.
Parang kdrama(SIGNAL) but I think mas maganda pa panuorin ng storyline ng kdrama kesa nito.
Yung Korean Movie Ditto… Same talaga, using old Radio for communication…
The plot seemed to be based of the Sandra Bullock movie- The Lakehouse mixed with kdrama – Signal. The story is a bit confusing to me maybe because I skipped several scenes . It felt a bit dragging about half way through. The acting of the female lead seems inconsistent. Overall though, this movie did not follow the formulaic Fil romcom plot which I find slightly refreshing.
Mixed din ng Korean Movie Ditto…
