Love at First Sight Trailer: Haley Lu Richardson-Ben Hardy are “Infinitely Falling” in the Classic Love Scenario

Remember those movie sneak peeks that essentially reveal the entire plot within the given few minutes span? The Netflix Love at First Sight trailer catches Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy in the said all-too-familiar love scenario. But, are we complaining? Not quite. The OTT platform has been unveiling R-rated eroticas at an infinitely racing pace, whereas, the heartwarming content has been on the down low.

The last time we encountered such a romantic saga on Netflix was possibly through original titles like the Reese Witherspoon-Ashton Kutcher starrer Your Place or Mine and the Glen Powell-Zoey Deutch starrer Set It Up. The cliche feel good love story genre is making a comeback this September, and we’re all here for it.

What are the chances of finding one’s soulmate? Richardson calls it, “slim to none”, but finding them again, that’s just not possible, right? Well, that’s up for fate to decide, much like how the upcoming heartfelt Netflix movie grants us a look at what’s to follow soon. Chancing upon their first meeting, two strangers – Hadley and Oliver – have their meet cute on a flight from New York to London. Now consider this, we have about 100,000 daily flights around the world, with 6 million travellers going to and fro between multiple locations, but for Hadley and Oliver to meet each other, all that was needed was this one true divine connection.

Does it mean that they’re meant to be? That can only be sealed if they plan on keeping in touch. So, do they? Not if one of them loses the other’s contact info! Based on the popular novel, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E Smith, the film will explore how Hadley (Richardson) misses her original flight, which leads her to meet Oliver in a serendipitous exchange at the airport. And before you know it, sparks fly and you have Infinitely Falling by Fly By Midnight playing in the background.

As they spend the next few hours on the plane together, which fly away in an instant as it seems, by the way, the two have to part ways at Heathrow, and are brought back to ground reality. Despite their initial choice and intention to keep in touch, the inevitable happens and they are separated. What follows next is a chaotic turmoil for them to find each other again. Presenting an impossible switch, will fate swish its wand again and offer the soulmates a second chance at love? We’ll have to wait and see.

Directed by Vanessa Caswill (Gold Digger, Little Women for PBS), the touching love story has been adapted from the aforementioned book. Katie Lovejoy has contributed to the task of screenplay adaptation for the same (To All The Boys – Part 2 and 3), while Matt Kaplan and Aubrey Bendix have co-produced it. Alongside the leading pair, Jameela Jamil, Rob Delaney, Dexter Fletcher and Sally Phillips will also be seen in the Netflix premiere.

As for the pair in love, if you’re wondering that the two actors seem familiar, then you’re probably right. Haley Lu Richardson was also seen in teen romance films like The Edge of Seventeen and Five Feet Apart, in addition to her groundbreaking portrayal of Portia in The White Lotus Season 2. On the other hand, Hardy debuted as Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse and also played prominent roles in Bohemian Rhapsody and The Voyeurs.
