Internet freeze! It’s happening! Hugh Jackman posted a Deadpool 3 sneak peek on his Instagram story a while back and the Twitterati are shook to the core. Wanting to see Jackman’s Wolverine in his classic comic-accurate bright yellow costume has been an all-time favourite wish of netizens, Marvelites, and all inhabitants of several other fandom communities as well. Well now, it’s happening and we still can’t believe what has just met our eyes. We need a minute to take this one in.
The Logan actor first donned his breakthrough role’s attire in the 2000 Bryan Singer directorial, but it’s for the absolute first time now that he’s finally put on the signature Wolverine suit the whole world has been waiting for him to make his own. On July 10, 2023, the actor returning to play one of his most iconic roles took to his Instagram stories to post a first look at himself and his partner in red, the Merc With a Mouth himself, aka Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. It’s safe to claim at this point that the clock has actually stopped for hardcore Marvelites who’ve been waiting for this moment to actualise for years on end.
And they finally get to blink (or not, as commanded by the man in charge himself) and take a breath of relief because the leading X-Men hero is here to “take names and kick butts”. As once stated by both the front-running faces of the movie, we’ve already witnessed Logan die before, but we must keep that narrative aside from what’s coming ahead for us. The main plot of the movie has been all hush-hush and kept under wraps since time immemorial, but we’re gradually crawling towards gaining new Easter eggs everyday.
While on one end of the fan community spectrum, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie is taking over the world while also settling a duel with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer same date premiere, comic accurate Wolverine and the crimson-headed Wade Wilson own their primary colour fashion palette on the other. The classic comic book rivals are coming back, and the one thing that Jackman has come clean about is that the forthcoming movie’s story is set “pre-Logan“.

In another news, i.e. one of the updates surrounding the film revolves around Reynolds’ The Adam Project co-star Jennifer Garner, also formerly known as Marvel’s very own Elektra. Several official sources (as reported by The Hollywood Reporter) are betting on her reprising her assassin role in the upcoming threequel, which means that Jackman isn’t the only trump card kept hidden by Reynolds, Levy and the rest of the team working on the movie. Directed by Shawn Levy, and co-written by him alongside Rob Liefeld and Wendy Molyneux, the third instalment of the Marvel superhero franchise stars the pivotal duo of Reynolds-Jackman along with Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Jennifer Garner (rumoured as of now) and others. Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen have also been casted in unidentified roles so far. Expected to comeback with its R-rating, the superhero/ antihero flick will start playing in theatres on May 3, 2024.
