Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is a romance and comedy anime directed by Kazuomi Koga and based on a manga written by Nene Yukimori. The series is being animated by Studio Pine Jam and is also known as Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai Episode 1.
High school student Junta Shiraishi has a simple goal—to live a fulfilling youth. However, achieving this goal appears to be harder than expected, as everyone in his surroundings often fails to notice him due to his lack of presence. Shiraishi’s lack of presence is so severe that people think his seat in class is always empty and mistakenly assume that he often skips school. A weird rumour is spreading in class, claiming that those who successfully spot Shiraishi will be blessed with good fortune for the day.
So far, the only person who notices his existence is Nagisa Kubo, the girl seated next to him. Unfortunately for him, though, Kubo likes to tease him daily and often puts him into unprecedented and nerve-wracking situations. The possibilities are limitless, and it is going to be hard to predict what the plot of each episode is going to be, given the nature of the show. You can bet that there will be interactions between the two that will force Shiraishi to come out of his shell, bringing a very willing Kubo closer to Shiraishi. Maybe we’ll even learn more about how these two got to know each other!

Every good slice of life needs its side characters, so that’s what intrigues me the most about the later episodes of this series. The first episode did a commendable job of introducing the main characters, but the show will be too boring with just them being in it. Not every show can be Girls Last Tour, and even that show had three different characters who could formulate sentences in different episodes. Let’s see what this show does!

A lot happened in the series opener. We got introduced to our two lead characters and learned how the two felt about each other and life in general. Shiraishi, the male protagonist, displayed that he wants to be invisible by choice, which is why he tries to be in the background s much as possible. Nagisa, however, has a vested interest in him not doing that, which is why she tries to push him to the forefront of things. That, of course, leads to some hilarious shenanigans.
