Knock Off: Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah Confirmed to Lead Disney+ Black Comedy Series

Disney+ has officially announced that acclaimed actors Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah will lead the upcoming drama Knock Off. Set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the series promises to deliver a gripping narrative centred on ambition, transformation, and the high-stakes world of counterfeit goods.

Knock Off kdrama tells the story of Kim Sung-joon, an ordinary office worker whose life takes a drastic turn due to the economic turmoil of the IMF crisis. Struggling with the loss of his job, Sung-joon embarks on a risky path that leads him to the underworld of counterfeits. Leveraging his sharp intellect and unyielding ambition, he quickly ascends to become the king of the global counterfeit market, holding a significant position as the vice president of Korea’s infamous Saemmool Market.

Kim Soo-hyun, known for his powerful performances in dramas such as Queen of Tears, One Ordinary Day, and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, will step into the role of Kim Sung-joon. Fans are already buzzing with excitement at the prospect of seeing Kim Soo-hyun take on such a complex and morally ambiguous character, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and dynamic actor.

Joining him is Jo Bo-ah, who has made a name for herself with standout roles in Destined With You, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, and My Strange Hero. She will portray Song Hye-jung, Sung-joon’s ex-girlfriend and a determined special judicial police officer tasked with cracking down on counterfeit goods. Her character’s mission pits her directly against Sung-joon, setting the stage for a tense and emotionally charged cat-and-mouse game.
