Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review: Salman Khan Offers Cringe Fest in the Name of Commercial Cinema

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review: Salman Khan’s latest action drama is directed by Farhad Samji and is based on Veeram featuring Ajith Kumar. The ensemble cast includes Pooja Hegde, Shehnaaz Gill, Venkatesh, Jassie Gill, Raghav Juyal and many others in supporting roles.

-Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-

The heated action drama Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan simply lowers the stature of a typical Salman Khan entertainer and fails to live up to the hype (if there was any) while succumbing to common tropes of cringe fest in the name of commercial cinema.

The film revolves around Bhaijaan (played by Salman Khan) and his three brothers- Love, Moh and Ishq (Kudos to the scriptwriters and their collective efforts in deciding the character nomenclature). The basic theme is that Bhaijaan is a self-righteous, hyper-influential, larger-than-life icon who single-handedly protects an entire town from corporate goons. However, he will not settle in his life due to a preconceived notion against a minority of women.

The screenwriters have done such a lousy job throughout the flick that the plot doesn’t require to be explained beyond this point. It’s over budget YouTube video with little to no idea where it’s headed. Furthermore, Farhad Samji’s misdirection completely ruins the experience and tanks the entire film right from the premise.

There are a couple of moments which might make you chuckle with the crowd (credit to the comedic genius of Satish Kaushik), but as a whole, nothing works out in favour of this situation-driven lifeless drama.

The film screams out the word ‘cringe’ in multiple parts, and even dissociates itself from any sort of continuity. There is no plot build-up or story focus, but only scenes that derive themselves out of idiosyncratic situations. The only part where something goes right is the action (that too only towards the climax). Moreover, the weird choreography seems doesn’t leave you with any memorable Salman Khan steps, or anecdotes.

The entire cast takes it upon itself to further derail the performances in the film. You can literally feel some of the actors just delivering plain and dead dialogues, with a lifeless effort. Even though there is enough clarity over the chunk of screen time for the protagonist, some characters are left with an incomplete arc, that barely makes it to the final cut.

I don’t know about others, but I had a generous amount of hope for the film (guilty as charged), but this is the kind of outcome that will definitely disappoint a hardcore Salman fan. It’s not even near to his predecessor hits and feels like a half-hearted attempt to restore the larger-than-life icon. It lacks basic elements of storytelling and fails miserably to separate itself from an extended Instagram reel. Therefore, nothing makes much sense, even if you leave your understanding bias out of the picture.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review Final Thoughts

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Still 3

If you were expecting a Salman Khan redemption story or an ode to some of his entertaining filmographies, then you will be heavily disappointed. There is not a single binding element to the story, which will make you sit through this two and half hour slugfests.
