Kathmandu Connection Season 2 is a drama thriller series that revolves around a grippy terrorist investigation headed by suspended cop Samarth Kaushik, keen journalist Shivani Bhatnagar and a criminal on the run, Sunny Sharma. Notably, The series is a worthy successor to the first season and is helmed by Sachin Pathak (Drishyam, Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti), written by Siddharth Mishra and stars Amit Sial and Anshuman Pushkar in the lead role.
The complete cast of the second season includes Aksha Pardasany, Anurag Arora, Harleen Sethi, Prashant Narayanan and others in a pivotal roles. Furthermore, Arun Kumar Pandey serves as the director of photography while Saumya Sharma heads the editing department.
-Kathmandu Connection Season 2 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-
Unlike the previous season, the series starts off on a pretty strong note and introduces us to the present trajectory of the main characters. This begins with Shivani, who has opted out from the national desk and is shown to be working with a foreign news agency. Followed by Sunny, the alleged conspirator of the bomb blasts, who happens to be fighting his legal case, with the intent of removing the charges.
Last but not the least, former cop Samarth (played by Amit Sial) runs a local cafe on the outskirts of the city, and is still investigating the case with sheer obsession. Moreover, the disgraced police officer is further facing an identity crisis in this season, after his own daughter refuses to interact with him (as a result of his corrupt involvement).
The series forms a new momentum when Shivani learns that an unknown source, has been killed in an attempt to hide a larger criminal tail. And the case is much more complex than everyone assumes. To deduce things further, she plans a trip to Kathmandu and initiates a domino effect of murder, blasts, and unwanted consequences.
Kathmandu Connection Season 2 is a rare achievement for a franchise, where the second instalment is far better than the first. The first part found itself engulfed in a thick layer of monotony, while the second one is much more nuanced, and to the point. Furthermore, the narrative is grippy, performative and intriguing in all respects.

The character arc of Samarth completely stands out in the fresh instalment and feels more direct this time. The pain of redeeming himself for his daughter is something that thoroughly resonated, and even made me root for his success. A lot of credit for this goes to the writing, along with the seasoned performance of Amit Sial.
Overall the show is tough and improved in all aspects, and feels much more like a refined version. Although there are a few elements that lack the engrossing effect, I believe Sneha Khanwalkar’s renditions for Syahi Syahi compensate heavily for that.
Kathmandu Connection Season 2 Final Thoughts

If the first season left you with a mixed bag of disappointment, then the second one will surely make amends for the same. Also, the storyline is almost anthological in treatment, which makes it a great first-time watch.
