Getting a Padma Shri is a huge deal for an individual as it is not a mere award, it is the country’s fourth-highest civilian award. The function of Padma Awards was organised today at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
The awards are bifurcated in 3 different categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). Padma Awards are held every year in order to applaud and appreciate the achievers from various fields, where a slice of public service is involved.
Many great personalities were felicitated at the Padma Awards 2020 which are being held currently at the national capital. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, film director Karan Johar and television producer Ekta Kapoor and many more were awarded for their work.

This year, a total of 119 awards were given out by President Ram Nath Kovind. It includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar were also present at the ceremony.
Kangana adorned a beautiful green saree along with huge earrings for the big occasion. Previously, after receiving the honour she said, “I started my journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh, and for me to be in the same league as these bigwigs we have grown up watching, whether it is Karan’s films or Ekta Kapoor’s serials… We knew these people, growing up. And who has not heard Adnan Sami ji’s songs? For a girl like me, to get a Padma Shri alongside them is a matter of pride.”
Karan Johar opted to go for an all black outfit along with his stylish spectacles. While, Ekta Kapoor looked ravishing in a beige outfit. She was honored for her brilliant contribution in the field of television, films and digital content. Ekta was accompanied by her father Jeetendra for the prestigious ceremony.
