Kaiju No 8 Episode 12 managed to give us a really good ending that satisfies you yet keeps you excited for the next season. Let’s delve into the intricacies of the 11th episode in detail.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 11 Recap
Kafka has been detained and is being evaluated by the Defence Forces’ higher-ups, led by Director General Isao Shinomiya, Kikoru’s father, and other key members. They see Kafka’s potential as an asset but are concerned about his humanity. Since a human turning into a Kaiju is unprecedented, they worry about the massive destruction he could cause if he loses control. They decide they must assess the threat he poses firsthand, rather than relying on Kafka’s or his subordinates’ assurances.

Kafka, meanwhile, feels guilt and sadness about his predicament. He fears he will be rejected by his comrades and removed from the Defence Force. However, his worries are unfounded as the 3rd Division deeply appreciates his sacrifices to save them, even if it meant revealing himself as a Kaiju.
The episode’s highlight is when Isao Shinomiya personally tests Kafka. The Defence Force’s use of Kaiju parts to create weapons is showcased, setting the stage for one of Kafka’s toughest battles. He must confront his monstrous side and ensure his human self prevails.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 12 Review And Recap
The mood amongst the members of the 3rd division has been bad consistently because all of them know what will eventually happen to Kafka. He will be deposed off and killed because of his Kaiju self, and they will not see the man who saved them ever again. But there is one person who is sure of Kafka’s return, and that is none other than Reno. He persistently trains and even agrees to transfer to another squad precisely because he plans to be strong enough so that he can protect Kafka the next time.
On the other hand, Kafka is fighting against his own Kaiju self so that he does not end up killing Isao. He tries to control himself, even reminding himself that he can not kill Kikoru’s father in front of her. He must prove that he is a human and not a crazed Kaiju, but so far, he has remained unsuccessful in doing so.

Their battle is absolutely intense, and you can feel the desperation within Kafka. We also see just how powerful the Kaiju No 8 form has become, and Kafka at this point, is one of the strongest characters in this universe. He not only overpowers Isao with his gear made of Kaiju No 2 but also is on the verge of killing him.
However, we know that Kafka is not a quitter, nor is he someone who lacks conviction. He failed multiple times to pass the Defence Force exam, yet he never gave up and continued to apply. Thus, he surely cannot let this chance that Isao has given him slip away. Plus, he also has a huge support system in the form of his squad members, who are ready to accept him as he is, specifically Mina.

Verdict
This episode presented a very engaging conclusion that ended just at the right moment, where we are satisfied but curious about the next season. What will happen to Kafka now? Who is the mysterious First Division captain who appears in this episode? We need answers to these.
I also loved that the anime portrayed this part better than the manga. Not only did they add more meat to this segment, but they also animated it very nicely. I am definitely waiting for the next season.
