It was just yesterday that the first Indian survival drama series made its way to Netflix and elevate its catalogue to higher standards, but here we are, already pining for the Kaala Paani Season 2 confirmation news. Sameer Saxena and Amit Galani’s creation and co-direction roped in the talents of Ashutosh Gowariker, Mona Singh, Amey Wagh, Sukant Goel, Vikas Kumar, Radhika Mehrotra, Chinmay Mandlekar, Arushi Sharma, Poornima Indrajith and others for their ensemble cast that just couldn’t go wrong.
With an emotionally haunting storyline that takes after the recent COVID-19 pandemic horrors, the new Hindi thriller series sets its premise in a near future, yet again haunted by the fictional LHF-27 epidemic in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and so has been shot from start to end in the Indian union territory that is otherwise mostly seen as an aesthetic and scenic getaway, but not this time. Presented by Posham Pa Pictures, with screenplay by Biswapati Sarkar, Amit Golani, Sandeep Saket and Nimisha Misra, the show has 7 episodes, each one of them threading the distinct sub-plots of several compelling characters whose lives are eventually intertwined in this race against time for survival.

Is Kaala Paani Season 2 Confirmed?
As of yet, the series hasn’t been renewed for another season, but with the first season’s 7-part narrative finishing on an open-ended note, there’s still hope for that second season most of us are now looking forward to. Now, more than ever, the series is being appreciated for its gritty approach that hasn’t shied away from refreshing our horrific memories of the lockdown, while also penning down an original story unlike any other Indian show out on OTT platforms.
This has only consolidated the show’s hold over the viewers and critics alike. With such positive reception all around, there’s a good chance of these characters coming back for more. Plus, director Sameer Saxena is the CCO of TVF, a media service that is well known for billing multiple seasons of a particular series.

What to Look Forward to in a Possible Kaala Paani Season 2
Will Kaddu be Cured? Or Will Santosh Have to Bear the Horrors of Another Tragedy?
The Savla family had merely stepped out to enjoy a vacation in the picturesque environs of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There was no way of them knowing the tragic fate that awaited them there. Santosh has been pushing through to reunite with his family, however, nearly his entire family is wiped out by the LHF-27. Now, with only Kaddu remaining as his pillar of emotional strength, nothing was going to stop him (not even the epidemic itself) from safely making his way to the evacuation ships that would take him and his daughter to Huxley Island, the promised safe haven for survivors.

Even when Kaddu starts showing symptoms for LHF-27, he does what he has to take her along with him, even if it meant killing Jyotsna. Though safe and sound atop the ship, he’s endangered thousands of lives again that were otherwise untouched by the LHF bacteria. This is possibly one of the most inevitable events of the series that we would like to see explored in the next season – how Kaddu’s illness will impact others in the long run, and if she’ll be cured or Santosh will have to bid farewell to the last standing member of his family.
Ketan and Ritu’s Reunion
We never got to witness a happy ending for Veenu and Jyotsna, maybe this will be our new roman empire. Amey Wagh made sure we all fell in love with hating his character, until he too fell for Radhika Mehrotra’s Dr Ritu Gagra. He decided to set Ritu free only to be tortured at the hands of Mr Wani and his lackey. However, even we can’t deny that he and Ritu together made a great team. With her now off to a new island in the lookout for the remedial plant, we can’t wait to see if their paths will cross again (that is if “Kanchan” lets Ketan breathe after all that beating).

Echinacea Plant Recovery
With Ritu headed to another remote island with Basu uncle, the chances of her finding the plant she needs are slim, but still there, even if in traces. What truly bugs me at the moment is the fact the much-needed plant is already at an accessible location – Jyotsna and Veenu’s old school – that also became the rendezvous point for survivors before being taken to the ships for evacuation – but no one has discovered it sitting in their own backyard as of yet. Will the next season break this bubble? Or is the other resort to procure the needed peptide from the Orakas’ system going to initiate a cultural war on the soil of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands?

Chiranjeevi and his Orakan Identity
Will he assimilate into the ways of this community now that he knows his true birth identity? The Orakas have already declared war, especially with Enmae (Desire Junior Binde) shooting an arrow at the police. Although Chiru has very much sided with the Orakas, we’re yet to see how he’s going respond to this new change and visible evolution in the Orakan character.
How Will the ATOM CEO Figure Into this Mess? – What About his Wife and Child?
We never truly got to know if Poornima Indrajith’s character aborted her child for the procedure to be accomplished successfully on her, but considering that she survived after those near-death dangers, it can be assumed that she took Dr Ritu’s word for it and gave her permission for the same.

How Will Vinayak (Veenu) React to the News of His Mother and Jyotsna’s Deaths?
Although some of the biggest familial tragedies are unknown to Veenu, he’s the only person who knows about the Echinacea plant at his school. Will he and Ritu somehow meet in the future? She seems to be the only person in pursuit of the remedial plant so this news will only interest her at this point. The safest bet for her to lay hands on it is if she gets in contact with Veenu. Will he able to compose himself after finding out about Jyotsna’s death and help solve the mystery of this mythical plant? Only Season 2 can answer all these questions for us.
