The episode opens with Geto stepping into Sasaki’s dream, calmly asking whether they wish to remain inside the barrier or step beyond it. When they choose to leave, he guides them toward the exit as grotesque curses loom and wander nearby. Before parting, Geto expresses gratitude to Sasaki for taking care of his son, clearly referring to Yuji.

Meanwhile, Yuji succeeds in persuading the upperclassman to cooperate. The senior makes it clear that this isn’t out of goodwill; he needs Yuji’s support in return. Once the Culling Game concludes, he intends to push for changes to the jujutsu rules. To strengthen that plan, he even builds an alliance with Megumi, who agrees without hesitation.

But just as things seem to settle, Yuji receives shocking news: he has already been registered as a Culling Game participant. This revelation raises a compelling possibility that Sukuna may once have been a sorcerer who formed a binding vow with Kenjaku, ultimately becoming a cursed object.

This episode begins with a very dynamic intro because we are getting the background of a new character. This is Higuruma, who is a seasoned lawyer trying his best to represent clients, whom he believes are innocent. Most of the time, he would go out of his way to take cases that are practically unwinnable precisely because he has a sense of judgment that is stronger than others. This time, he deals with a case where a young man gets falsely accused of killing someone.

All the evidence points towards him being the killer, but Higuruma thinks he is innocent. Hence, Higuruma fights hard and manages to save the kid in his first trial, but when a second appeal takes place, his client gets a life sentence. Following this, the client also blames Higuruma for his situation, and this triggers something within Higuruma that gives birth to his powers. The incident also significantly changes Higuruma for the worse.

After this, we get to see a flashback where Yuji takes on some bullies. Apparently, he had always been a savior of the weak. But in the current timeline, his and Megumi’s situation is not very good. Now, Yuji gets to face Higuruma rather than Megumi, who meets another player. Higuruma appears very different from what he seemed in the first half of the episode.

It is clear that he is not a fighter for justice anymore and has other plans regarding the culling game. But from both Yuji and Megumi’s interactions, we get to know about the culling game a lot. We realise that the real goal of Kenjaku is something a lot different than what we previously believed in. This episode was absolutely phenomenal, where on one hand, we’re exhilarated for the upcoming battle, but we are also intrigued as to what Kenjaku is actually planning.

I absolutely loved this episode, and I think it’s one of the best of this season. The animation was phenomenal, with every panel ending up as cinematic beauty. I specifically loved the character of Higuruma, who has become a truly complex personality, and I would like to know why he’s doing what he’s doing.
