Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey is one of the much-awaited Hindi films of 2022. Fans have been waiting for months to watch the film on the big screen. The pandemic and lockdown have affected the release date a number of times. It was supposed to release on April 14, along with Yash’s KGF Chapter 2. Well, the makers have now announced a release date for Kapoor’s film.
Jersey will not hit the theatres on April 22, 2022. The decision was made on Monday morning by the film’s team. In a media statement, producer Aman Gill said, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. The film will now release on 22nd April.”
The cricket drama also stars Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur, Rohit Kamra, Rudrashish Majumder and Geetika Mehandru. Directed and written by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is an official Hindi remake of Gowtam’s Telugu 2019 sports drama, Jersey, which starred Nani.
Meanwhile, recently, the makers of Shahid’s film dropped a new trailer for the film. During the trailer launch, the actor got candid about his film, character, and career. At the event, Kapoor revealed that the Nani starrer touched his heart, and he cried 4 times while watching the film. He calls the character’s journey inspiring.

About how he related to the story, Shahid Kapoor had said, “Sometimes, I also used to feel that I am not delivering a blockbuster film, so what should I do? Should I try something else? There is a time in everyone’s life when we wonder why we are not doing well in life. Then you do something else, or make some kind of compromise.”
