Ishq Next Door Episode 6 Recap
Komal, the neighbourhood’s advising queen’s wedding celebration has started, and as usual, the desi aunties ignite rumours. Seems like Komal’s fiance runs a lingerie shop, hence it causes a ruckus between the two alliances. Dev has always been fond of Komal and follows her advice of sacrificing for love. He believes that sacrificing Meher makes him legendary.
The next day, Dev goes to the community’s laundry man and asks for service. But a pissed Ashwin, demands the laundry guy to finish up with his clothes first. Dev simply walks away back home. Over there, he asks Chuttan to iron his clothes instead of watching the TV and wasting his time. Dev’s mother brings his late father’s blazer and asks him to wear it. However, it is big in size.
Right then, Meher comes to their house and delivers the saree she worked on for Dev’s mom. Since the blazer also requires alteration, Dev’s mother requests Meher to take care of it. Meher starts measuring Dev’s torso and they both become awkward as their happy memories flood in.

Chuttan playfully whistles and leaves them both to reminisce about the nights they’ve roamed together. Before Meher leaves, she asks Dev to remember the lengths as he is getting married and will need it for his wedding dress. Dev tries to tell something to her but his mother cuts off the conversation and Meher leaves.
Ashwin from his balcony looks at Meher and Dev on their respective balconies, talking to someone on their mobile phones. He misinterprets that they both are on call and sighs in disbelief. That night, all of the community members visit Komal’s wedding party. When Meher finds Ashwin, she compliments his dress and the latter asks her about Dev. She states that Dev’s getting married and her love story has had its end. This news excites Ashwin.
Chuttan prepares a dance for his crush Tanya. When he meets her he asks why she hasn’t called him in the past few days and questions her about her missing profile picture. He then learns that Tanya has blocked him because he has failed his exams. A broken-hearted Chuttan finally realises the impact of his mistakes.

Meanwhile, Komal’s father and father-in-law argue about the lingerie shop. Dev interferes and tries to calm them down. Komal, her husband, and Meher join them and make the two elders understand their mistakes. At the event, when Meher, Komal, her husband, and Dev take a picture, Komal says that nothing will work out if they sacrifice. This confuses Dev and he asks her about the old advice she gave regarding sacrificing for their loved ones.
Komal denies that piece of advice and tells that instead of sacrificing and becoming legendary, one should fight for their average happy ending. Dev understands that he needs to pursue Meher before it’s too late. Dev happily dances beside Meher and drives back home, thinking about the advice.
Ishq Next Door Episode 6 Review
It’s nice how the director has once again kindled feelings inside Ashwin so that even if Dev tries to win Meher, chances are there that she might give Ashwin a chance this time. Additionally, showing Chuttan’s reality is hard-hitting, as it sets a good example for teenagers to focus on real life before them.

The scene between Meher and Dev when she measures his torso had the classic Bollywood touch to it. Only if they had added some background score similar to Om Shanti Om‘s title track, damn, it’d have felt cheesy in a good way. While this scene is a win, the ending didn’t sit well with me.
I mean, the director could have ended the episode with Dev actually confronting Meher than him wasting his time. Maybe they wanted him to waste time but I expected an ending where Dev would meet Meher and the episode ends with her and Ashwin. Again, maybe the creators didn’t want the ending to be predictable. Nevertheless, the last scene didn’t fascinate me because it was too plain.
