Ishq Next Door Episode 3 Review: The new JioCinema original series directed by Akhilesh Vats, follows the life of a young man catching feelings for the girl next door. The series’ main cast includes Abhay Mahajan as Dev, Natasha Bharadwaj as Meher, Purav Jha as Chuttan, Mrinal Dutt as Ashwin, Gopi Desai as Dev’s mother, and other actors. Each episode from the 10-part series will be released daily and the runtime of the episodes will be approximately 20 minutes.

Ishq Next Door Episode 3 Recap
The third episode begins with a backstory of Ashwin and Dev as kids, participating in a friendly Kabbadi match with other kids. Ashwin is the leader of the strongest team, while Dev is the substitute for the other. After waiting for a long time, Dev gets a chance to play Kabbadi. The tiny Dev happily walks against Ashwin’s team, only to get a tight slap from the latter.
Back to the present day, Dev goes out to fix the broken mixer and waits until the mechanic repairs it. Right then, Meher passes by and invites him to try the street chowmein. Over there, Meher asks Dev to tell her about him, and he talks about his late father and the best Gulati chowmein he used to have with him. During the conversation, Dev catches his young brother Chuttan staring at him and Meher from a distance and hushes the young boy to get back home.
On their way together, Meher and Dev meet Ashwin. When Ashwin starts to bring up their relationship, Dev excuses himself to give them privacy. Dev calls Chuttan and requests him to take the mixer back home. Just then, Ashwin purposely brings up the topic of Kabbadi. Chuttan hypes about Dev by stating he is a pro at it. Ashwin, who knows the real face of Dev, arranges a match that evening. Meher also decides to join them.
Dev reveals to Chuttan that all the heroic stories he told the latter are fake. Chuttan realises that Ashwin is going to beat Dev to a pulp and joins him for the match. During the match, Meher joins Dev’s team, and right in the first round, she smacks one of Ashwin’s teammates. Meher then goes against Ashwin’s team, but instead of playing the match fairly, Ashwin hugs her and asks her to take him back. Meher gives up and walks away.
Ashwin comes in and flips all of Dev’s teammates, leaving only Dev to match against Ashwin and his team. Dev, who remembers Ashwin’s tricks, executes the game and kicks Ashwin’s face. A happy Dev goes out with Meher and Chuttan to celebrate the tiny success. Meher blindfolds Dev for a surprise which is none other than Gulati chowmein.
Dev is touched by Meher’s effort in searching for the long-gone chowmein shop that he used to go to with his late father. The episode ends with Dev feeling loved for the first time in a long while.
Ishq Next Door Episode 3 Review
I absolutely loved it. From the hilarious flashback of Ashwin and Dev to the breezy romance towards the end, the third episode is refreshing. This episode is a step toward Meher and Dev’s possible love story as it showed subtle hints of interest through Meher searching one whole day for the chowmein shop that Dev has memories with. Additionally, Dev’s effort to beat Ashwin for behaving inappropriately with Meher is another hint that shows he is falling head over heels for her.
Chuttan, as I mentioned in the previous review, is a sweetheart. His witty habit, the way he causes trouble for Dev, and the love he has for his brother are legit goals. Who would not want a younger brother like Chuttan? Additionally, when Dev explains that he used to create fake stories to put Chuttan to sleep, it shows how Dev took over the responsibility of his late father and pampered Chuttan.
