Insomniacs After School Episode 3 Review- Learning The Ropes

There is nothing better than a good slice-of-life show. To disappear in the world of someone else’s creation and to fall in love with the characters so meticulously crafted yet deeply flawed is an experience that every anime fan can tell you a little about. However, condense all of that down into a world that can be easily believed as one that exists right now, and you get the magic of a slice-of-life show. If you find one that you somewhat relate to, you can be sure that you are in for a good time.

Insomniacs After School is as good of an example of that as you can get. There was a lot to like about this episode, but the one thing I have come to like the most about this show so far is the attention it gives to the little things. The tiny intricacies with expressions, the detail with which it animates a cat and its mannerisms, and how much love it puts into portraying each character are astounding. There is a lot to love about this world because one can tell that this world was made with a lot of love.

There wasn’t much happening in this episode, as is normally the case with shows like this. However, the show made every second of that thin plot worth watching and deserved credit for that. In theory, the main characters just went to a small town, learned how to operate the camera from an alum, and came back having made a new friend. However, in practice, there was so much more to this. We saw the introduction of an extremely interesting new character, some fantastic interaction between our main characters, and just how beautiful the world in this show is.

Insomniacs After Scholl Episode 3 finally fulfilled the potential the show has had since the concept of the observatory was introduced. Space is a beautiful thing, and characters who are interested in it are even more so. It also provides the perfect excuse for people like Ganta and Isaki because of their insomnia, which still is a big part of the show at every turn. The photos they were able to take weren’t masterpieces, but they were great starts that demonstrated just how much potential there really is here.

Yui, the latest entry into the show, is awesome. She’s the exact kind of person that most of us have known all our lives but couldn’t get close to because of how reserved they were or because we didn’t care enough at the time, or maybe even because we were her. She has come in not just as a guide for Ganta and Isaki but as a fully-fledged character herself who has feelings and a very pretty life that’s very fun to watch. She has an adorable cat, which would have been enough of a reason to like her, but she gives you plenty of opportunities to do that.
Verdict
Insomniacs After School Episode 3 was gorgeous and serene and gave you ample opportunity to just disappear into the world that it had crafted. What else can you expect from a slice of life?
