10 Influencers Who Also Acted in Movies Making You Think You’ve Seen Them Somewhere: Kusha Kapila, Addison Rae and Others

While social media and the internet allowed people to come closer, there was another benefit as well. Many artists and aspiring professionals were working incredibly hard to make an impression within the industry, but the recent culture of influencers allows upcoming artists to make their big debut. The following list of influencers who also acted in movies shows how there isn’t just one way of trying to find a job in this economy and in this field.

Some of the influencers mentioned here may have had their beginnings in the field. However, there are some who started off making content on the internet and never looked back since. Most of these started out of their own home, writing, directing, shooting and editing their own sketches and scripts. Without any further ado, here are the following influencers who made it in the industry.

Influencers Who Also Acted in Movies

Addison Rae

This influencer started out on Tiktok doing dances and transitions that made her come up inevitable. Most recently, she starred in the classic Hollywood remake titled He’s All That, where she played the female protagonist tasked with giving the uncool guy a makeover. While this sounds like something right up her alley, the critical review was not the same. The movie fared terribly with the critics and even worse with the nostalgic fans watching it. The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.

Prajakta Koli aka Mostly Sane

Apart from making amazingly written comedy sketches about family dynamics and problems, this content creator is also wonderful at playing characters outside of her comfort zone. But most recently, she acted in the movie Jugjugg Jeeyo, where she played a bride getting married in a family drama, something that is right up her alley. While this film didn’t receive much praise, it did catapult her into the movie career with an upcoming release with Vidya Balan in a film titled Neeyat. Both of the films mentioned will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Noah Beck

Starting off on Tiktok with the dance videos during quarantine, this personality rose to fame after moving into The Sway House. He has since been slowly climbing the ladder of the entertainment industry, trying to make it. He is scheduled to appear in the film The QB Bad Boy and Me. He also visited the Cannes Film Festival and launched his brand Iphis. The aforementioned film will be his feature film debut, although he has been featured multiple times on screen, including a music video for Machine Gun Kelly.

Liza Koshy

After spending years on Vine and then moving all her content onto YouTube, this artist is a multi-talented personality whose rise to fame hasn’t been surprising at all. Apart from being a great writer and actor, she has also employed her impeccable dance skills to appear in Work It, in which her character leads a dance team to victory. She has also been expected to feature in some more films coming soon, including one with Gina Rodriguez titled Players. While the former is currently streaming on Netflix, the latter is coming soon to the platform.

Dolly Singh

After making multiple sketches also highlighting the dynamic in her Punjabi family, this artist has been working tirelessly to make her way to the big screen. She was featured in the Netflix series Bhaag Beanie Bhaag, where she played the protagonist’s best friend, and in the film titled Double XL, which is streaming on Netflix, she was also playing the friend role. However, she definitely jumped from a small OTT show to a feature film with popular Bollywood actors.

Kusha Kapila

While Kapila has always been skirting the grounds of the entertainment industry by working in the fashion sector of the media wing, she made her entertainment debut with Abish Matthew while creating his show Son of Abish. Since then, she has gotten to work with Netflix on an anthology titled Ghost Stories and a show Masaba Masaba. Most recently, she appeared in the film Selfiee, featuring Emraan Hashmi and Akshay Kumar, which is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Ajey Nagar, aka Carryminati

Working on gaming content is difficult in the current sphere. However, when this influencer started out, he was one of the first from the country. Building on that kind of precedence gave him the opportunity to choose the kind of jobs he wanted, even when he was stuck in controversies. In the film he was featured, he played himself, inserting humour and personality into the gritty exterior of Runway 34, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Lilly Singh

Being the only South Asian in the YouTube era she was from, it was difficult to make sure people found her relatable. But they completely did, enough to push her towards the forefront of the industry. She has since then opened up her own production company, hosted a late-night television show, and even appeared in multiple films, including an animated one with Sam Rockwell and Akwafina titled The Bad Guys, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Currently, she is hosting another show titled Battle of the Generations on CTV.

Charli D’Amelio

One-half of the most popular Tiktok duos, this influencer made it so big that no one could have missed her. Any information about her was found out through word of mouth or glaring social media interest. This kind of interest landed her a reality show following her family in The D’Amelio Show and an animated film titled StarDog and TurboCat, where she played Tinker. She is also expected to star in a television series titled Home School, which is currently in preproduction. The aforementioned film is currently streaming on Hulu.

Eugene Lee Yang

After being in the YouTube space with Buzzfeed for too long, this artist managed to break off and start his own media company with his best friends, allowing him the opportunity to pursue multiple personal projects as well working on some things within the industry. He has been a writer, actor and director for his own movies and shorts for so long, but now he will be playing a warrior legend in the film Nimona starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed, which is coming soon to Netflix.
