I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class Episode 2 Recap

The story takes a turn as the couple begins attending school, trying to act as though nothing unusual is happening. However, Saito struggles to keep his marriage under wraps when Shisei quickly figures out the truth. She even blackmails him into offering her a bribe to ensure her silence, adding an amusing twist to the narrative.

One of the most compelling aspects of the episode is the portrayal of the challenges faced by the protagonists as they navigate living together. Both have been accustomed to their independent lifestyles and now they must learn to adapt to co-dependence. Saito, despite his wealth, has lived like a stereotypical bachelor, subsisting on ready-to-eat vegetable soup, instant ramen, and protein powder. Fortunately, with a wife now willing to cook for him, he finally gets to enjoy proper meals after what seems like an eternity.

Today’s episode starts with the married couple trying to be as understanding as possible of each other. These two are so different from one another and were fighting like cats and dogs in the beginning. However, we see a drastic change in their behavior in this episode, where they actually become more patient with one another. Akane even invites Saito to watch a cat movie together, and Saito despite being bored out of his mind gives his wife his company.

Not only that, but we also see a more physical and emotional intimacy between them where Saito becomes comfortable with expressing his desire to look at Akane’s sleeping face, and she accepts. Saito even thinks about trying to mend his relationship with her by inviting her on a date. Here they get a taste of what being married actually means by shopping for essentials for their home.

Unlike other romcom series where the guy does not really show much bias towards any potential female lead at the beginning, we clearly see that Saito feels something about Akane. He often tries to take one step forward to make this makeshift relationship work, and despite being a classic Tsundere, Akane agrees. This is why their relationship has developed significantly over the past three episodes, and it is definitely a breath of fresh air.

However, there are certain things that do make the viewing experience a bit sour. The animation is not that great, and it almost feels like the panels are taken from a 4 coma manga. The progression also feels a bit rushed, and it is very difficult to know how things will get from this point onwards. On top of that, if you came into this anime thinking you would get a harem,  then you might not like the hero’s inclination towards Akane.

Verdict

I liked this episode as I prefer a straightforward monogamous relationship to a harem sitting. The scenes shown here are sweet, and they entertain you with the lovey-dovey moments between the couple.
