How I Met Your Mother Thanksgiving Episodes For a Feast of Laughter

Belly Full of Turkey (Season 1, Episode 9)

As classic Thanksgiving goes, it is messy and intolerable, yet a beautiful experience with loved ones. This episode follows the same route, where Lily and Marshall celebrate the occasion with the latter’s family. Lily put a lot of pressure on herself as she wanted to impress her boyfriend’s family, but things soon started to go downhill. Meanwhile, Robin and Ted plan on spending their holiday at a volunteer centre. To their surprise, they meet an unlikely person, Barney, in the kitchen. Although it starts with confusing and chaotic situations, it ends on a high note as their love for each other shines through.

Slapsgiving (Season 3, Episode 9)

As we all know, HIMYM is an expert at creating their own traditions, which even the audience celebrates. Similarly, during Thanksgiving celebrations, Marshall decides to rename the day ‘Slapsgiving Day’ because he won a bet with Barney, which allows him to slap the other five times at any given time. Besides creating a tradition, the episode also showcases the tensions between Robin and Ted, finally disappearing as they start to become friends again.

Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap (Season 5, Episode 9)

The tradition continues on Thanksgiving Day with a little twist. Marshall decides to gift the fourth slap left for Barney to Ted and Robin so that they can get along with each other. The only rule was to get it done before sundown so they could all have dinner together. But they ended up arguing about who deserved to slap him more. Meanwhile, Lily is in utter chaos when her deadbeat father, who left her when she was young, is at her doorstep. The episode is not just about friendship but also about mending hearts and broken relationships.

Blitzgiving (Season 6, Episode 10)

Do you believe in curses, or do you think they are just coincidences that lead to some bizarre incidents? This episode will make you think differently about certain moments in your own life as Marshall and Ted meet up with their old friend ‘The Blitz’. He was given that name due to his bad luck. But soon Ted realises that his friend’s bad luck had passed onto him due to a series of events that had been happening to him since he met ‘The Blitz’. His theory is proved right when his entire group befriends his nemesis, Zoey.

The Rebound Girl (Season 7, Episode 11)

In this season, a lot of changes came within the group as they started to move on with their lives. After both Marshall and Lily get to see the house’s full potential in Long Island, they decide to move there. They announce the news to their friends, and Robin is visibly bothered by it. She tried to convince them not to leave the house they currently reside in. Meanwhile, Ted and Barney are upset that they both had a bad year making a love connection, so they decide to become ‘bro-parents’. They decide to adopt a child so that they can fill in the void left by the women in their lives.
