How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7- The Review

Either I missed an entire episode in between, or How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 didn’t tell us what the protector told Kazuya at the end of the last episode. That’s fine and not a big deal if it gets revealed in a later episode, so I’ll leave that there. It is great that the show is leaving some plot points open to create some buzz for them, instead of revealing everything in the next episode for once.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 felt like a setup episode for its entirety. The things that the show was setting up looked like they would be of importance later on in the series if they are now. So while this episode got very jargon-heavy and slow at places, I understand that the setting and exposure are necessary for the show to have a great conclusion. In that way, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 did its job perfectly.

The relationship between Kazuya and Liscia has improved greatly from the start of the show, with the last episode’s tenderness and this episode’s moments solidifying her as the “Main Girl” in the series. Liscia is a great character on her own, but this development risks her losing her traits and just becoming Kazuya’s sidekick for the most part, which I can’t say I agree with. She has had a reduced role in the series ever since the advisers got introduced anyways, and it doesn’t need to be cut down more.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 started differently than the rest of the season, too, with Kazuya moonlighting as a warrior to find out more about the kingdom. It made for a nice change of pace and worked well with Kazuya’s motifs. Kazuya also did an extraordinary amount of what I call “Realist Hero Stuff”, which involves using things that don’t exist in that kingdom, like logic and common sense. That’s always the best part of the show, and any episode which features a lot of that gets brownie points.

The opening theme has really grown on me since the show started. I wasn’t initially sold on it even if Inori Minase, the voice of Liscia, sung it herself. The opening does a great job fitting the show’s huge cast into a 90 second OP, and the animation is very smooth throughout the show. Everything considered, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 was a great episode of television.
Verdict
Two straight decent-to-good episodes? This show is on a roll! How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 7 was perfectly watchable and entertaining, although the show ran the risk of putting an entire army to sleep at points. Better pacing would help the show tremendously.
