House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, has been running successfully, with 5 episodes released so far. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

Episode 1: The Heirs of the Dragon
The Excruciating Birthing Scene
This scene in the first episode itself made a really strong statement regarding how brutal the show is going to be. It shows the medieval medical procedure in disturbing detail and how during such periods in history, many women did not survive childbirth on their proverbial battlefield. Like Aemma says, ‘The child bed is our battlefield’ and it surely turns out to be.

Episode 2: The Rogue Prince
Rhaenyra’s Entry On Her Dragon at Dragonstone
When the Small Council learns that Daemon, proclaiming himself the true heir, stole a dragon egg and intends to marry his mistress, Mysaria, as a second spouse. Ser Otto and a small detachment sail to Dragonstone to retrieve the egg. However, Rhaenyra follows on her dragon, Syrax, and forces Daemon to renounce his false claims and return the egg to her.
Her entry on her dragon shows that she is ready to become the heir to the throne and is strong enough to take care of any issue on her own. It could be a proving moment that solidified her position in the Red Keep.

Episode 3: Second of His Name
Prince Daemon’s Battle With the Crabfeeder in the Stepstones
For three years, the conflicts in the Stepstones had escalated. Lord Corlys and Prince Daemon battle Craghas Drahar and his pirates without the Iron Throne’s support, for the most part. The face-off between Daemon and Crabfeeder reveal some layers to Daemon’s character, he’s willing to put himself in very serious danger if there’s a chance of getting the job done.
The intense battle without many words made the viewers applaud the actor playing the role of Daemon and also root for his character to gain victory. It is needless to say that no matter what, we all are secretly on Daemon’s side.

Scandalous Make-Out Between Daemon and Rhaenyra at the Brothel
While incest is not that much of a shocker for Game of Thrones fans and is also a common occurrence in the house of Targaryen. But the moment when Prince Daemon seduces Princess Rhaenyra in the pleasure den, it can be said that it felt scandalising to most of the viewers watching Uncle and niece getting together.
However, Daemon abandons her before they have sex and returning to the Red Keep, Rhaenyra seduces Ser Criston instead. This adds to the shock value and shows how Daemon couldn’t handle when the control went from him to now an excited Rhaenyra.

Alicent Hightower Owning up Her Status as the Queen
Alicent Hightower shows up at the wedding with exuding confidence and attitude, wearing the colour green royal gown. It signifies the Hightower’s banner colour for war and a call to arms. And that’s what she’s about to wage against her former best friend and stepdaughter, who is set to become the heir to the throne sooner or later. It shows how she is owning up to her status as a queen and won’t be as naive as people make her be.

House of the Dragon is released on HBO at 6 PM PT and HBO Max at 9 PM ET every Sunday. It is also streaming on Disney+ Hotstar for Indian viewers and is released at 6:30 AM IST every Monday.
