Kpop sensation and actor Chansung of 2PM is set to showcase his talents in a new Japanese romance film titled Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone (literal translation). Directed by the acclaimed Eiji Uchida, this film promises to explore profound themes of love and connection, much like Uchida’s previous works Midnight Swan and Silent Love.
Eiji Uchida, recognised for his deep storytelling and unique directorial style, has adapted Fuyuki Shindo’s novel for the big screen. Uchida’s work often delves into the struggles and triumphs of human relationships, and Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone is expected to continue this tradition with a compelling narrative and complex characters.
Joining 2PM’s Chansung in the cast are Kubo Shiori, a prominent member of the popular idol group Nogizaka46, and Miyama Ryoki from the rising boy band BE: FIRST. Chan-sung will portray Lee Jae Hong, a young man who defies his father’s wishes to pursue his passion for cooking in Japan, leaving behind his family business.
The film revolves around Mizushima Tsukina, the owner of a children’s bookstore, who lives with her partner Mizushima Yoshiki, an aspiring children’s book author. Despite their deep bond, Yoshiki’s struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder and mysophobia creates tension in their relationship, making simple acts of affection a challenge.

As Yoshiki seeks help for his condition, he meets Chiharu, a woman with similar struggles, at a hospital. This connection leads to feelings of jealousy in Tsukina, who then encounters Lee Jae Hong, a man emotionally distant and struggling with his own issues. The film intricately explores the emotional and physical challenges these characters face, offering a poignant look at love, jealousy, and personal growth.
Chansung’s involvement in this project highlights his versatility as an actor, having previously appeared in both Korean and Japanese dramas such as Kaitō Royale, 7th Grade Civil Servant, Bitter Sweet Hell, and So I Married an Anti-Fan. His role in this movie is anticipated to be a significant addition to his acting portfolio, showcasing his ability to portray complex emotional states.
