Harlan Coben’s Missing You Ending Explained
When Kat finds Josh on the dating app, she, at first, doesn’t think too deeply about it and chooses to ignore it because it brings up some unpleasant memories. However, she couldn’t help but want to learn the truth about why Josh did what he did to her and in the course of this investigation, she figures out that everyone that she trusted in her life has been lying to her for the past 11 years. Over the course of following her hunch, she figures out that her father’s murder wasn’t what she had been told, resulting in her diving deeper into the web of lies.
Meanwhile, her investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Dana Fells at the behest of Dana’s son Brendan takes her to a surprise conclusion, that somehow connects to everything else that has been going on her in life.
What Had Really Happened to Josh?

After the murder of her father, Clint Donovan, Kat was completely heartbroken. Deciding to take care of his fiance, Josh tried to go deeper into Clint’s murder for Kat’s sake which resulted in him learning about Clint’s collaboration with criminal kingpin Calligan. Clint had been helping Calligan to evade law enforcement, while Calligan had been keeping Clint’s extramarital relationship a secret. Josh knew that exposing the truth to Kat would’ve broken her further and thus he chose to disappear for her sake.
However, it turns out later that Aqua had witnessed Clint’s interaction with his affair partner and Clint, in a moment of desperation, attacked Aqua to keep her quiet. Josh ended up at Aqua’s house as just Clint was about to attack her more and tried to stop him. However, in the midst of the tussle, Josh accidentally stabbed Clint and he died soon after. Stagger reached the scene soon after and helped them clean up the house, along with convincing Monte Leburne to take the fall to save Josh and Aqua.
Who is Titus? What is His Operation?

Titus is an animal breeder who is really particular about the families who adopt his puppies. He is also managing a scam business, where he abducts people after chatting them up on a dating site and then uses them to transfer money and then kills them when the money dries up. However, he messed up when he abducted Dana, whose son desperately tried to find her. Plus, they came under Kat’s radar when they used Josh’s images for a fake profile and tried to follow her, who immediately started to obsess over the shocking turn of events.
As Kat and Brendan look deeper into Dana’s disappearance, they come to find out about Titus and his ranch, where he has several people imprisoned. They go to the ranch after Titus abducts Brendan as well and with Dana successfully freeing herself, they are eventually caught after trying to burn their ranch down and fleeing from the site with their prisoners.
What Happens in Missing You Episode 5?

In the last episode of the series, Kat finally gets all of the answers that he needs from Josh, having discovered that the partial fingerprint on her father’s murder weapon belongs to Josh. She is overcome by grief at the harrowing deception, having started dreaming about a life with Josh once more just before the revelation. Meanwhile, Dana and Brendan try to get away from Titus but are almost killed, until Kat intervenes and shoots Titus first. The mother-son duo thankfully have a happier ending.
