Gyeongseong Creature (경성크리처) is Netflix’s latest South Korean historical thriller with topnotch action and a plot that keeps you hooked right until the end. Directed by Jung Dong-yoon, the drama stars Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Kim Su-hyun, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul, and Wi Ha-joon, alongside other cast members.
The series brings us to 1945 Gyeongseong (Seoul) where a case of missing women brings two individuals on an adventure that would change their lives forever. Jang Tae-sang has it all, money, women, and power, however, a slip leaves him on a mission to find a woman. That is when he comes across Yoon Chae-ok who has been looking for her mother for over a decade.

Korea under Japanese rule was a tough time for the nation and the times right before could be said to be the hardest. The series is set in 1945, when the country gained its independence, which means that you can expect a lot of emphasis on the struggle of the time. This background brings a huge amount of focus on the various types of people who existed back then and the ever-changing nature of humans.
Among these people is Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy, popular and powerful man in town who gets in trouble with a Japanese official. This leaves him with a mission that he is forced to fulfil to keep his wealth safe. On the other hand, Yoon Chae-ok is a specialist in finding missing people but is unable to find her mother. However, a decade’s search has left her a clue which brings her to Gyeonseong.

Soon, their paths collide and it is love at first sight for Tae-sang, but his nature is not one to care for such things. Jang Tae-sang is someone people are jealous of and have appreciation towards. While he may seem like someone who doesn’t hold the fire to burn for his country which annoys the independence movement fighters, his reasoning is just as valid as any other.
Park Seo-joon flawlessly carries his arrogant character (which we have also seen previously) but also portrays his torn mindset very smoothly. From his initial confidence to his rage, the character development is just as smooth as the revelation of the past that made him this way. And Park Seo-joon does justice to his character in every way possible.
Meanwhile, Yoon Chae-ok is not overshadowed by his performance in any way as she builds a fort for herself through her character. This series has got an amazing cast and we see the way every character can create an everlasting impression on our minds. Han So-hee does exactly this with her character which was not easy, especially with the action scenes and emotions.
From the badass female action hero to the vulnerable daughter who just wants her mother, Han So-hee fit this role to perfection. On the other hand, Kim Hae-sook, Wi Ha-joon, and others also leave us awestruck with their performance and as I have said, this is a very strong and talented cast.
While the actors have surely touched our hearts, the plot itself was intriguing throughout the episodes. The intensity kept rising until the end and the background music was like the icing on the cake. However, what caught our attention was the smooth transition between the languages. A flawless show of the talent that has come together to make this masterpiece.
Unfortunately, while the title talks about the monster in the film, she hasn’t been given enough attention which is especially so towards the end. Surely we see her birth and the intention behind her creation, etc., but the monster disappears in the middle and shows up right at the end. We can say that this could be due to the background setting of the series and the story between the leads, but we wouldn’t complain if she got some more screen time.
Meanwhile, we cannot overlook the predictability of the plot which was evident in many places, nor the surprise that it held in the other places which balanced it out. However, the reveal at the end could’ve been kept out from this part of the series and be revealed in the next part instead.
Altogether, this was an intriguing watch for fans as the action and thriller leave you stuck to the screen while the plot makes you skip dinner to know what happens next.

All in all, Gyeongseong Creature is a good watch for the fans of the genres, actors, and writers. Be it historical factors, action, thriller, or even romance, it stands out in every way and challenges our thinking through the actors. The depth of the characters and the smooth exchange between them will leave you in awe for sure.

Oh this good, like good fighting scenes, monster parts is acttuly good made FOR ONCE,
Im on episode 4 now i must say one thing, so far its change between the monster and the next second some of the people like the doctors and the crasy ones or just some flashback from the past,
And it last almost 15 minutes or it feels tooo loong, i was bored of this so i fastforward ALOT, i give the absolute shit about the evil guys has to say its pointles and draget out boring,
Now in episode 4 at the end finally things happening thats gets me intresting,
Now the detctive himself its not so smart, waving a sword on a rooftop so that the soldiers see it, not so smart, but i guess its tge fuucking in the script then *sights*
My score for now: 2.5 of 5 something good finaly its happening yaaaay
Okies i guess, it alot of jumping from the monster and the actors, 1 mintes with monster then suddenly 10-15 minutes with talking, or just flashback to the past, just fastforward over the evil guys loong speaking and youre good,
The monster itself FOR ONCE ITS GOOD, fighting scenes good, im at episode 4,
The great escape, but killing soldiers while they are bundlet up not so goid idea, waving with sword so the whole base is on alerted,
Now the scene in the laundry room is the stupiest ever seen, four agains one soldier, even the good fighting girl its like yeeted like a toddler agains the wall,
My score: 2.5 of 5 ythings finally happening.
Im at episode 5, there is a monster lose in the base, but in this one were not seeing it at all not even for a second, the base has just lost 50 soldiers but now everthing goes back how its was before the outbreak, weird, just soldiers tortures people, throws people in jail like nothing has happens?!?
I skipped this one dident bother watch it, waste of your persious time on this earth, and a loong flashback in the past,
In the end of this episode its only fight and arguments between the main actors and that i personly give a rat shit about,
DID NOT LIKE THE CLIFFHANGER AT EPISODE 10, I think enough good people has died, could just ended a bit better,
Some of the evil guys like that b…tc in the end need to get her ass brutaly stomped in sesson 2, if i see her laughing or smilling too much AGAIN….
WOOOHOO THE WORLDS END IS HERE, atleast in my town…
Sesson two, please dont talk too much while killing bad guys, sad scenes should not be longer than 5 minute’s NO 15 minute’s straight…
