Gossip Girl: Will HBO Max Give Us a Third Season of the Reboot Series?

Gossip Girl Season 3 is something fans want but, is it something they will get? Well, we will have to find that out down below!

Developed by Joshua Safran for HBO Max, the show serves as the reboot, an extension and a standalone sequel to The CW series of the same name that was based on the novel series written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Original series co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage return as executive producers for the extension along with Safran, who is also the showrunner. The series wrapped only days ago, flaunting 10 episodes, each with a runtime of 50-60 minutes.

The main cast for Gossip Girl Season 2 included Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Eli Brown as Obie, Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Evan Mock as Aki Menzies, Johnathan Fernandez as Nick Lott, Adam Chanler-Berat as Jordan Glassberg, Zión Moreno as Luna La, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan, Luke Kirby as Davis Calloway, John Benjamin Hickey as Roy Sachs, Amanda Warren as Camille de Haan, Anna van Patten as Grace Byron, Todd Almond as Gideon Wolfe and Grace Duah as Shan Barnes. The OG narrator Kristen Bell continues to be the Gossip Girl voice for this season too.

Will We Get Gossip Girl Season 3?

The short and crisp answer is, unfortunately, no. On January 19, 2023, only days before the release of the finale of Gossip Girl Season 2, showrunner Joshua Safran posted on Twitter the sad news about the series getting cancelled after two seasons. Thus, it will not be returning anytime soon.

Safran tweeted: “So here’s the goss: it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce GOSSIP GIRL will not be continuing on HBO Max. The EPs and I will forever be grateful to: the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and dexterous talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication, and love for the project. This was honestly the greatest set I ever worked on, top to bottom.”
