Gossip Girl Season 2 Trailer Breakdown: Secrets, Lies and Betrayal Unfolds For the Scandalous Manhattan Elites

Gossip Girl Season 2 is back and the trailer drop was a bomb move along with the release date reveal that has put everyone on the edge of their seats. Developed by Joshua Safran, the show is an extension and a standalone sequel to the iconic CW series of the same name that was based on the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar.

Original series co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage return as executive producers for the extension along with Safran, who is also the showrunner. Another iconic name associated with the original series that is featured in this one is Kristen Bell, who continues to be the OG Gossip Girl narrator and blogger, anonymous and omniscient.

The main cast for Gossip Girl includes Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Eli Brown as Obie, Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Evan Mock as Aki Menzies, Johnathan Fernandez as Nick Lott, Adam Chanler-Berat as Jordan Glassberg, Zión Moreno as Luna La, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan, Jason Gotay as Rafa Caparros, Todd Almond as Gideon Wolfe, Laura Benanti as Kiki Hope with the addition of Grace Duah as Shan Barnes in the latest season of the show.

Gossip Girl Season 2 Trailer Breakdown

The 1-minute 55 seconds trailer for Gossip Girl Season 2 had a lot to say that we will be witnessing in the upcoming season. It is apparent that the latest season will not miss a single beat and pick up from Julien’s breakdown moment dealing with her father’s #MeToo accusation. Her teaming up with the Gossip Girl does mean some level of sass and the mean girl being charged out if it will truly happen or not is something that will truly unfold during the course of the show. We also see Julien and Obie trying to tackle their midseason kiss, so that is another angle to delve into.

The trailer also clearly shows how Zoya is still the outsider in the crowd and, nothing has really changed in terms of her experience from last year to the new one. Her relationship with Julien takes a segment where it is clear that the two do not share any kind of bond anymore. The relationship highs and lows of Audrey, Max and Aki are jarring and sooner or later one is sure to be at the murderous thirst of another.

However, it was Monet who truly shinned in the trailer for the latest season. And, we can pretty well see a sinister plan taking shape with Luna on the toe. And, the rivalry between Monet and Julien, replicating that of Blair and Serena continues.

Of course, that last call in the trailer is that of Kristen Bell’s saying, “War is never pretty, and it’s only just begun,” with a jaw-dropping surprise from Georgina saying the character Kate, “Did you know that you have four weak points of entry and a very pliable super?”.

Gossip Girl Season 2 Trailer

The trailer description for Gossip Girl Season 2 reads: “It’s the second semester of Junior year, and Gossip Girl is leaving no stone unturned in her effort to control the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite. She’s learned a thing or two from her first go-round – namely what her audience wants, they shall get. It’s time for her to turn the heat up on what’s been simmering. Old enemies, new allies, constantly shifting sands – this semester, there can only be one queen, and by the end of the school year, everyone will know where the bodies are buried, and just who was holding the shovel.”
