Glen Powell-Sydney Sweeney on Anyone But You Being R-Rated, Having Fun in Australia

Romantic twists and whatnot are in store as the upcoming American R-rated romantic comedy film Anyone But You starring Top Gun 2’s Glen Powell and Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, has become the talk of the town even before its premiere. Several photos and sneak peeks hinting at the cast’s camaraderie have created quite the buzz among the fans of each actor, who can’t wait to dive into what this saga holds for them.

A new video of the titular duo surfaced a few hours ago. It instantly made headlines as the public raved about their proximity, raising the hype surrounding the film’s title and release. While the project came to light in January 2023 through Sony’s announcement, its title was only recently revealed.

Since the filming and the entire production process took place amidst the picturesque bountiful beauty of Australia, the leading pair of the movie made the most of the location by partaking in numerous local activities. When they finally got to discuss it with Entertainment Tonight (ET), they only had good things to spill about their movie and the place.

Right off the bat, Sydney’s claims about loving Australia are left in the open. Powell’s answer further supports them as he mentioned how “it’s hard to have a bad time in Australia”, especially since the cast made it a point to head out for activities every weekend whilst filming for the project. Powell also declared Sydney’s position as the team’s “social chair”, hinting at how she guided their plans surrounding these escapades.

The conversation swiftly took a different turn, leading Powell to talk about the R-rated aspect of the film, further pointing out how everyone on the set would be sporting swimsuits and “looking good”. With rom-com premieres mostly restricted to the OTT space, he proudly highlighted that their forthcoming movie goes big with its cinematic approach.

All these details have surfaced to the top following the stars’ sighting at the Las Vegas Cinema Con 2023, where the plot’s overview has been spoken of surrounding two characters who hate each other. Fans of either actor later took to Twitter to discuss the issue at hand, and they couldn’t help but notice how this project could mark a return to the classic rom-com vibe, maybe even hints of the fake relationship trope sprinkled here and there.

Except for HBO’s Euphoria, Sydney has previously been seen in the movie The Voyeurs and the TV shows The White LotusEverything Sucks and more. She’s also been announced as one of the leading cast members of the upcoming superhero Marvel film Madame Web. Powell, on the other hand, is well acquainted with the rom-com genre since his performance in the Netflix movie Set It Up.

Anyone But You Cast

In addition to Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, the movie will also star Alexandra Shipp, Dermot Mulroney, Michelle Hurd, Rachel Griffiths, Darren Barnet, Hadley Robinson, Bryan Brown and others. Will Gluck stepped in as the film’s director, who’s now become an expert in helming this particular genre of movies after working on titles like Easy A starring Emma Stone, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake starrer Friends With Benefits, About Last Night led by Kevin Hart and Regina Hall, and many more.

The trailer for their movie has yet to be revealed officially. However, its first look was unveiled exclusively at Cinema Con. And as mentioned earlier, it’s set to be a cinematic premiere, but the release date is still under wraps.
