Plot: Dreams of Living Big
The main lead of the film is Emmanuela who later becomes Emma, she works in a strip bar but loses her job. After much struggle, she manages to get a job at a high-profile place which is managed by Donna. They provide escort service to big powerful men in Lagos and earn even bigger bucks and luxurious gifts in return.
Donna has only one rule – never give your love for free. But apparently, her best girl ‘Jemma’ broke this rule and got out to have her own family. However, she had to come back to this world in need of money. On one hand, Emma learns to walk, talk and live like the riches and just when she thinks she is off to a better life, the past comes haunting back.
Meanwhile, an important person disappears with a lot of money that belonged to the powerful men. This incident puts all the glamour girls’ life in danger and destroys whosoever was ever involved with them. Now it’s up to Donna and the remaining girls to find a way to get out of this mess before someone loses their life.

The Good, The Bad and The Worst
The film starts with Emma in the strip bar being accused of stealing a ring and being manhandled/ touched inappropriately by Zeribe. He works as a bodyguard for Segun, who is one of the chiefs. Anyway, due to the stealing accusation, she loses her job and ends up at Donna’s firm. With the help of Donna, Emma transforms into a city girl with glitz and glamour and scores with Segun, due to Zeribe’s help somehow.
Up until this point, the film was going fine, even though there are some questionable things but as the plot said, a rural girl was trying to make money quickly so she could support her family. But when she gets everything she desired, we don’t see her doing anything for her family or even an appearance of the family. Rather she comes very phony.
I have no idea what the film was trying to show exactly. It gives us a glimpse of the people involved in the business from Donna, being a cold and stern boss madame, escorts abusing drugs due to their lifestyle and another one trying to have a family while keeping her real profession a secret.
Jemma had left this profession but when she needed money for her husband’s treatment, she comes back and meets another man named Alexander. When her husband dies, she starts a new family with Alexander but something happens and he ends up dead. But he worked as an accountant for all the chiefs and with him, the key to all the bank accounts is gone too.

This is the main point of conflict in the film as everyone’s life is in danger over the lost money that amounts to 10 billion dollars. Overall, the plot is just a lost cause where so many things are unclear and anything is happening to lead the film to a dramatic conclusion. In terms of acting Donna and Jemma definitely held the show whereas, Emma’s acting is just cringing at times.
The only good thing about the film is the music tracks which play throughout the film. I would bop to some of them definitely, meanwhile, there’s one song that remixed You’re My Honeybunch with their rap and it was very confusing, playing in the middle of the film.
Final Thoughts: Stream It or Skip It?
Glamour Girls Netflix is a definite skip if you aren’t familiar with Nollywood. If you have watched the 1994 version of the film and liked it then you can watch it for comparison. As it tries to add similar plotlines, like in the case of Jemma but by the end, it is an entirely different story. Otherwise, the film is a lost cause with no exact plot or character arc.
Glamour Girls is streaming on Netflix.

I totally agree with you. I wish I had skipped.
I really want to know what happened to Ese (Jemma’s son)?
I watched just to see Chukie????????! I don’t know about anything else????????????♀️
I think he was molested by Alex
I think he was molested by Alex.
Me, too!
Lord! Alex killed Jemma’s husband to get those keys. He molested Ase, too!
I wasted my time and data .
I kept watching hoping something would change ???? it was like watching a train wreck but I couldn’t look away
Je me suis ennuyée je n’arrêtais pas d’avancer les scènes pour comprendre où il voulait en venir mais rien . Gros bof!
So dissappointed!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!.. I was trying to understand why /how Alex wound up dead!…..
Data gone for nothing
Data gone for nothing ..I’m still in shock
Wasted my time and data
Loved it ????
What r you talking about? I Think it’s a great movie ????
Fashion
Style
Luxury, and a good storyline showing both the good and bad sides of the escort business.
if u didn’t like it you’re probably just a hater.
First off, we’ve seen NSE take on roles like this too much; same Characterization e.g her acting in “Mamba’s Diamonds* was nearly the same as Donna. Even “King Of Boys” still feels like she’s delivering on the same note. And Lilian Afegbai didn’t have one line. Overall, No Plot, no stroyline, just disjointed strips of scenes all over the place. I must commend Uzor Arukwe (who played Toke’s husband) and James Gardiner who I haven’t seen on screen in a while. And who is this Segilola person? Funny scene, Toke couldnt even catwalk in heels, shame!
Please what did Aaron see his wife do?
I loved it
Gemma saw Alex beating her son and she tried to help her son that’s why she had all those bruises and she killed Alex….. IF U GO BACK TO THE BEGINING AT THE PARTY Alex told her he had a billion dollars around his neck and that he was the accountant …. In the end Donna keeps some of the money
What really happened to Jemma’s son? Was Alex gay? Was he sleeping with her son?
Not worth the hype ????????
