Furies Season 2 Review
Netflix’s Furies returns for another season, showcasing a grittier and more intense fight for freedom and survival after the events of the first season, wherein Lyna and Selma fight against the shadowy Oz and try to eliminate him. Meanwhile, Lyna herself is trying to find freedom from the world of crime with Elie’s help, although it’s not as easy as it seems.
The second season of the French action series is an entertaining ordeal that doesn’t overstay its welcome. We follow Lyna and the gang trying to save themselves not only from Oz but also from Selma, both of whom are ruthless and power hungry. In the middle are the rest of the gang, who are also empathetic people, despite the circumstances, and you root for them as they fight against the powers that want to take their lives.

Even in season 2, the series continues to be thrilling and quite engaging as the twists and turns keep us entertained throughout. While the first five episodes are all about capturing Oz dead or alive, the last episode takes a surprising twist, opening the series up for a possible third season. In that way, the series shocks and awes us, with protagonist Lina El Arabi giving us a kickass performance that leaves you absolutely glued to the screen.
El Arabi’s Lyna is bold and has a moral compass. She fights for what she thinks is right, and her vulnerable side makes us look forward to her mission to find freedom. With backstabbers waiting at every turn to see her end and control Paris, her fight is an uphill battle, but she makes it a rather enjoyable affair. On the other hand, Marina Foïs is also surprisingly enjoyable to watch as Selma gets a shocking twist ending. While she has always been a mysterious character to get to know, this season turns everything that we know about her on its head. Or maybe it proves that we never really knew her in the first place!

Either way, both of them have incredible chemistry, and the cat-and-mouse chase makes for a fun binge session. Although it’s nothing new and there are some familiar beats, I think the series nails its execution and makes it extremely entertaining, wherein the repetitive elements don’t really have much of an effect. The structured resistance arc gives the series a more ambitious twist, creating a thrilling world with endless possibilities.
Final Thoughts

Furies Season 2 is a surprisingly ambitious watch that is entertaining throughout. Of course, it has many familiar beats, but it leaves us engaged with the story and makes us look forward to what comes next. If you’re in the mood for some smooth, fast-paced action and entertaining storytelling, this one’s a good bet.
