This teenage drama on Netflix was unhinged on another level, so here is the Freeridge ending explained. A spin-off of On My Block, this series stars Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Bryana Salazar, Ciara Riley Wilson, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Peggy Blow, Zaire Adams, Paula Garces, Eric Gutirrez and Cyndee Rivera alongside other cast members
Directed by Lauren Iungerich, Eli Gonda, Arlyn Richardson and Joe Suarez, the former is also a co-creator alongside Jamie Uyerisho and Eddie Gonzalez. Freeridge is a show following four friends who get a mysterious box causing things to start going wrong very quickly. The show consists of eight episodes, each running for about 30 minutes.
Freeridge Ending Explained
The show starts by showing us two sisters fighting violently. Punches thrown, hair pulled, and siblings pinned down. That is exactly how we are introduced to this group of friends in Freeridge. Demi, Cameron and Gloria are speaking to each other about how the latter’s sister is a wrench in the friend group. However, the big showdown in school led to Gloria and Ines’ uncle Tonio showing up to bail them out of this situation.
However, Tonio is hoping for some money back in exchange for the multiple bailouts. To pay him back, Gloria and Ines hold a yard sale, trying to sell things from their house that they don’t need. Things get a little dicey when the neighbours also hold their own yard sale. Cameron has been dating this guy named Dre and wants to break up with him. To do so, he buys a box monogrammed ‘MM’ to show that he truly does not care about Dre, forcing him to end the relationship.

Anyhow, it doesn’t quite work like that. Once the friends get the box, they start seeing a woman willing to pay for it. Not just its market value but large amounts of money, reaching almost a thousand dollars. But whenever they try to give her the box, she disappears. The friend group is warned, however, that the box is cursed. It is at this time Tonio gets a call from the doctor, and the family finds out that Javier (Gloria and Ines’ father) has cancer.
Now that the stakes have gotten much higher with the box, the squad has started banding together to figure out a solution. Since Gloria is really stressed about everything, she takes her anger out on people around her, including Demi. But she soon realises that her lack of understanding of her friends will not help with her father’s condition. Following this, they go to a bruja who lets them know that there is dark energy surrounding all of them and also gives the kids a premonition that bad things may be happening soon.
One of them is that Ines may be dying, and Gloria might be the reason for it, which is why she tries her level best to make sure to keep any threat of life away from her. Meanwhile, Demi and Cameron are going through their own thing with relationships and each other. Cameron’s dating life with Dre blew up majorly, and now everyone knows about this love triangle. Dre and Demi make up and become friends again, however, Cameron has a lot of issues with being in a relationship and confrontation.

At this time, Gloria is also having her own romantic interaction with a local boy named Rusty, who was hired by Tio Tonio as an assistant. Ines also has a crush on him, and they both are trying to create a romantic connection with him, but she lies and tells Gloria that she doesn’t like him. Ines tries to sabotage this relationship and is found out by Rusty, who is really nice about this and doesn’t tell Gloria anything for a while.
Although, Gloria and Rusty have so much tension that it eventually spills out that Ines lied to both of them to keep them apart. They get together, and things are going happily. However, the friend group figures out that the box is not actually cursed when Gloria starts talking to the owner of the box, Mariluna. She tells them that she just wanted to have her fun and possibly connect with her family through this box. Gloria suggests that she can hold a Thanksgiving party inviting family members and a few of her friends as well.
They all shuffle into the party, where Ines has found out that Rusty was actually paid by Tonio to keep the sisters distracted, and Gloria is betrayed by this. She runs into Mariluna, who comforts her and tells her that his feelings for her are not fake. Rusty and Ines are sitting outside arguing when the tension suddenly runs high enough to get converted into sexual tension, ending with both of them kissing. Gloria arrives just after they detach themselves and takes them back inside so Mariluna can share her Thanksgiving gift for these kids.

She shows them all a check for 1 million dollars and says that she will give it to them to spend in three months, but they cannot waste it or spend it on something that would give them something out of it. Three months later, she will give them all 10 million dollars if they are able to do it. However, just before she signs the check for this, a gang member comes in and shoots Mariluna in pursuit of a treasure trove lost within the city, and that is how the season ends.
In the next season, we can probably see the group figuring out the presence of the treasure, how Mariluna was killed and what will happen if Gloria finds out about Ines and Rusty’s passionate kiss when they were fighting for five seconds.
