Florida Man Trailer: Edgar Ramírez’s Manhunt Shapes Into the State’s Bloody and Meme-Worthy Crime Fest

Revealing the full trailer of Florida Man, Netflix has raised the heat of excitement. Donald Todd has created the limited series and stepped in as one of the executive producers alongside Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Miguel Arteta.

The title is a play on the infamous meme referring to the U.S. state’s males allegedly delving into impulsive and irrational actions that were eventually reported as crimes in the headlines. Edgar Ramírez (Carlos, Wrath of the Titans)leads the upcoming show to premiere in April. Again, as per the titular allusion, Ramírez’s character, who is an ex-cop, actually shares a long history with his home state, Florida. He’ll be joined by co-stars Abbey Lee, Anthony LaPaglia, Lex Scott Davis, Emory Cohen and others.

The newly released trailer hints at him having made it out of the U.S. state as it begins with introducing him as Mike, a gambler, who shares his identity as such with the fellow members of a support group gathering. He’s also lost his wife and job and is now finding quirky, and any means necessary to pay off his huge debt to a gangster. Turns out, one of those ways includes him being employed by the same gangster. This gig helps him get acquainted with his boss’ girlfriend, and as it appears to be the case, the two have been having an affair behind the gangster’s back.

Cut to a new day, or night, Mike’s boss reaches out to him to share the news of his girlfriend running away. And the news is followed up by another command from his employer that requires him to go after her, which brings him back to the untouched topic of his home state. Taking a new plan in stride, he strikes a deal with his boss, which means that once he brings her back to him, he walks away from the scene with his debt cleared off completely.

Heading back to ‘the sunshine state’, Mike takes up the case and reaches out to the police. While he knows she may not want to be found, hence the running away stunt, he has no choice but to dig into it. Taking someone’s advice, he starts talking with people of the same squad – criminals.

And, of course, to make his way out, Mike needs a gun, much like how the entire “state is shaped like a gun”. Eventually, he traces his steps to her as she presents him with a fortune-turning deal of 100 million dollars. The deal in question brings other men from Florida to join forces with them. With bad eggs and combinations coming together, fiery mayhem is in store for global audiences.
