Family Secrets (Gry Rodzinne) is a Polish mystery-comedy drama series released on Netflix on 31st August. The series is directed by Łukasz Ostalski and the screenplay is written by Agnieszka Pilaszewska. There are 8 episodes in total with a runtime of about 42-53 minutes.
It revolves around a couple’s wedding day which threatens to turn disastrous when they begin to unravel a web of secrets and lies that connects their two families. There are plenty of humorous threads and serious dramas in the show. Frequent flashbacks and jumps in time make the pace of the story very fast and sometimes you can get lost in it.
Starring Eliza Rycembel as Kaśka, Izabela Kuna, Małgorzata Mikołajczak, Piotr Pacek, Bartosz Gelner, Edyta Olszówka, Paweł Deląg, Marek Kalita, Adrian Zaremba, Agnieszka Suchora, Marcin Korcz and Anna Romantowska.

Will There Be Family Secrets Season 2?
The plot of the series begins with the wedding of the two main characters – medical student Kaska and plastic surgeon Jan. However, it soon turns out that it will not be an idyllic celebration, as new secrets are revealed that were hidden by the young couple.
In addition, we learn at the very beginning how complicated the relationship is between the two families. With such a plethora of secrets, intrigues and betrayals, it cannot end well, and the main mystery of the series is who the father of the bride’s baby is.
As the day ends, Małgosia helps her daughter reunite with the man she loves and the father of the child, that she is carrying. Jan tries to make things right with Kaska and Pawel by calling him to the wedding. Finally, Kaska and Pawel come face to face but they are standing parallel to the road.
They both try to cross the road and meet each other, Kaska almost gets hit by a truck and on the other side, we see Jan coming behind Pawel. But when the halted truck moves on we see no one on the other side and the sound of someone getting hit by a vehicle is all we can hear with Kaska’s shocked face.
While the whole series was about the couple and how Kaska is longing and trying to find him till the end, with such an ambiguous and shocking ending, viewers have a lot of questions and demand another season. Everyone is rooting for Kaska and Pawel to get together after all the troubles and make a life together with their child.
As of now, no news of renewal has been announced by Netflix or the creators of the show, but looking at the abrupt ending, possibilities of renewal are definitely there. The show has to give answers about the ending if anyone is hurt or if it was just a shocking element, while Jan and Pawel both are totally fine.
The show can also explore the relationship between Malgosia and Marek, as he is back in their lives and wants to rekindle the bond with her wife. While the show brought a fresh and entertaining story nonetheless, but many said it to be chaotic and the overwhelming number of flashbacks made it difficult to grasp the plot.
It does take a non-linear route to reveal the secrets at specific times but often stretches some things for shock value, like the kissing scene between Pawel and Dorota. The renewal of the series majorly depends on its popularity and viewership, and so far the response has been positive with high demand for Family Secrets Season 2.

Omg Season 2 me pleeeaaase!!! Can’t believe I binge watched this for it to end this way. I am in love with both Jan and Powel! Can’t believe Netflix did this to me! Definitely count me in for season 2 ASAP!
Season 2 should be inevitable! What an engaging eventful, romantically quirky, sophisticated and colorful study of relationships gone up, down, sideways and every way possible! Loved the generational interactive drama – ongoing – spicy and relevant!
Someone really needs to improve upon the English transition though! So choppy and amateur! I’m sure in polish it was much classier!
