On July 16, JTBC unveiled new stills from their eagerly anticipated drama Family By Choice. The images capture Hwang In-yeop, Jung Chae-yeon, and Bae Hyun-sung in light-hearted moments, showcasing the tight-knit friendship they share. The series, adapted from the 2020 Chinese drama Go Ahead, is directed by Kim Seung Ho, renowned for his work on Joseon Attorney: A Morality and Twenty-Five, Twenty-One.
The narrative of Family By Choice (조립식 가족) revolves around three high school friends who, despite not being related by blood, consider each other family. In-yeop stars as the charismatic Kim San-ha, whose life seems perfect on the surface. After spending his teenage years with Yoon Joo-won played by Chae-yeon and Kang Hae-joon played by Hyun-sung, he leaves, only to return a decade later.
The drama also highlights the chemistry between seasoned actors Choi Won-young and Choi Moo-sung. Won-young plays Yoon Joo-won’s father, Yoon Jung-jae, while Moo-sung portrays Kim San-ha’s father, Kim Dae-wook. The released photos provide a glimpse into the harmonious and vibrant moments shared by the three young leads and their two father figures. This unique family setup promises to deliver an engaging and heartwarming narrative, exploring how these characters support and care for each other as much as any biological family would.
This drama will delve into the lives of three teenagers who bond over shared struggles, familial issues, and personal traumas. Their journey through high school is marked by mutual support and an unwavering sense of belonging, despite not being related by blood. This unconventional family dynamic is expected to resonate deeply with viewers, highlighting the importance of chosen family.
