Extraordinary Attorney Woo: 3 Reasons Why Park Eun-bin’s KDrama is Off to a Good Start

There is no denying that June has seen the beginning of some excellent Korean dramas and we all know we’re hooked! However, between the scheming, the twists and turns, and the plot for revenge, there is a Kdrama making its way into our hearts with love. Not the dramatic kind, but the soft and warm kind of love that has us wanting more just after 2 episodes. It’s none other than Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a new legal drama that premiered on Jun 29, 2022.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo (이상한 변호사 우영우) is a Korean legal series directed by Yoo In-shik and written by Moon Ji-won, starring Park Eun-bin, Kang Tae-oh, Kang Ki-young, Baek Ji-won, alongside other cast members. The 16-episode series releases a new episode every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 PM KST (7:00 PM IST) on Netflix. The Kdrama revolves around a genius newbie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder and the challenges she faces with her quirky personality and witty problem-solving methods.

The Korean series has got good feedback after the release of the first two episodes this week, but what is it that got the viewers to like it so much? Is the Kdrama worth the watch! We’ve got you a list of reasons why Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a good show that you cannot miss!

3 Reasons Why Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a Good Watch

Woo Young-woo

One of the biggest reasons that make this Kdrama a good watch is our protagonist Woo Young-woo played by Park Eun-bin. When a wonderful actor plays a role that is so pure, then it becomes a drama that is hard to miss. While every newbie faces a bundle of struggles at the beginning of their career, the challenge increases when you are judged due to autism. While Woo Young-woo is a genius, she is often judged by her seniors at her new company, by the clients whose cases she handles and even by her colleagues. But she has been able to prove them all wrong and prove her capability to them.

Also, the fact that she is an extremely cute character who is obsessed with whales and always has some facts to share about them adds another layer of cuteness. We can see that she is someone who is loved and is also very realistic about her situation which cannot be compared to those deemed normal.

The Lawsuits

The show has released just two episodes and each episode revolves around a peculiar case which keeps the entertainment high. The lawsuits are interesting as is the process of finding the solution to them which keeps the legal genre of the show maintained and entertaining. Legal dramas can be intense or in some cases even boring, but this show has shown us the lawsuits that aren’t common in this genre. I also love the twist these lawsuits take and the way they are solved by the team of attorneys from Hanabada Law Firm. The lawsuits are an important element of this series and they are keeping it in the highlights while giving the spotlight to the main theme.

Autism

There are been a fair share of Korean dramas in the past that have made an effort to normalise mental health and disabilities. Examples are Good Doctor, Kill Me Heal me, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, and more. However, this is the first time we see the same in a legal drama. Our main character has autism spectrum disorder, while this doesn’t make her too different from the rest, people are still sceptical about how to deal with her.

Woo Young-woo is a character who is also a genius and doesn’t let this get in her way as she proves them wrong from time to time. She shows that she is not too different from anyone else and is competent enough to have a career in law. Actress Park Eun-bin has done a wonderful job is showing the character and the little differences that are magnified in the eyes of the rest. Her father and the people she meets at her job also add a touch of heartwarming scenes that makes this drama more beautiful.
