Exception Ending Explained
The final episode of Exception shows the spaceship slowly being destroyed before its fall on Planet X10. As Mack leaves first to stop the RA bomb, the misprint Lewis stays behind to get hold of the butterfly necklace which is key to bringing back Kate.
Leaving behind the reprinted Lewis, he escapes while Line gets hold of Patty B and leaves the ship in an escape pod. The ship too begins its descent on the planet with Patty A and Oscar which results in all the members successfully landing on the planet.

The crew slowly makes their way to the atmospheric transformer separately, with Mack saving Nina who got left behind to die by Patty B. On the other hand, Patty A has Oscar help her in reaching the transformer by giving the ship a temporary fix, only to have the latter leave as soon as he gets the ship started.
Elsewhere, the misprint Lewis has reached the transformer but finds Patty B ready to bring his end. Mack and Nina also reach right after them, but the wounded Nina has Mack go forward while she stays behind to monitor the place.
There, Patty B confesses that she is the reason why misprint Lewis turned out deformed and this happened when she went to collect his biomaterial while he was being printed. Misprint Lewis sees Mack climbing up from behind and so he distracts Patty B until the two are able to capture her.
They then try to get information about the RA bomb but she doesn’t give in so they tie her there and leave to search for the bomb. Patty A soon reaches the place and goes to rescue Patty B and the two start talking about the bomb which is heard by Nina who is monitoring the place.

She finds out where the bomb is hidden and tells Mack and Lewis about it before they soon find the bomb. However, with limited time left for its explosion, they decide to get it away from the transformer with the help of a parachute. They start the work, but right then Patty A and B arrive to stop them.
After a struggle, while fighting with the two Pattys, Lewis ties up Patty B to the parachute looking at which Patty A catches hold of her and the two leave with the bomb. Lewis and Mack try to get back inside the transformer to take shelter from the blast, however, Mack starts to choke as his oxygen levels were deteriorating during the struggle and have no more left to help him go back inside.
Elsewhere, the blast damages Oscar’s spacesuit which also kills him in the open. Nina and Lewis are the only ones who survive the chaos, however, he too is deteriorating due to the misprint. As Nina takes up the mission to complete the terraforming by herself, she soon losses Lewis as her last crew member and after deciding not to reprint any of the members again.

As years pass by, she records her activities while slowly succeeding in terraforming. However, just as Nina had predicted, the organisms that existed on the planet soon go extinct from the area she had been preparing for the migrating humans. By the end of her days, she has completed her mission and as the last wish of her friend Lewis, she prints Kate with her biomaterial.
The scene then shifts to Kate opening her eyes on this new planet and seeing the graves of the crew members and Lewis. But right then, the real Lewis shows up behind her while humans are landing on the planet in numerous spaceships.
Will there be an Exception Season 2?
While there is no confirmation as of yet, we can hope for another season and this maybe with better animation. The show was really a joy when it comes to the plot and the characters, and I would like to see what will take place next.

Absolutely loved this. Watched this in one sitting. I can’t say I wouldn’t be upset if there wasn’t another season BUT this season was done perfectly. A limited season. Let it be done. Animation was brilliant.
