Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 7 Review: Still

Gen tries to sneak into the enemy base, hoping to extract valuable information. However, here we see that Stanley and Dr. Xeno have already grown suspicious of him. Rather than eliminating him immediately, they choose to keep him close, planning to gather intelligence from him instead. Once they have acquired enough details about the Kingdom of Science, they likely plan to dispose of him. They also come up with an alternative strategy, which will be planting their own spy within Senku, or rather Dr Taiju’s party.

This is where we meet Luna, the self-proclaimed competent girl who, in reality, is far less composed than she believes. Unlike Dr. Xeno, she lacks a sinister edge and seems out of place in the unfolding conflict. Her somewhat naive nature becomes evident when she reacts in shock upon discovering who Dr. Taiju really is.

Today’s episode was certainly the best of this season because it finally gets serious about the situation humanity is in. We get a trip down Senku’s memory lane and see his relationship with Doctor Xeno unfold. They first became acquainted when Senku was merely ten years old. At that time, Senku was trying to make a rocket, but all his prototypes were failing. He then decided to send his inquiries to NASA and get some info.

Unsurprisingly, the people there thought it was a prank and decided to ignore Senku, but only Xeno believed in him and gave a genuine reply to his questions. Since then, Senku and Xeno continued their interaction until a change took place in Xeno.

He, who described science as elegant, started to see it as a tool to gather power and rule over others. This happened because the project he put his heart and soul into got rejected by higher-ups, implanting seeds of rebellion within his heart.

There was also a time when, in a conversation, Xeno was asked by his peers what he would do if he woke up in the Stone Age, and his reply was that he would be a dictator and utilize scientific knowledge in a despotic way. At that time, Ishigami, who also works at NASA, claimed that Xeno would not be able to stop the thirst of man from learning and rising up without even knowing that his own son would be the one to stand against Xeno after so many years.

This episode was nostalgic and symbolic. We see how both Senku and Xeno are the same but just have a different outlook on life. Senku embodies the brilliance and wisdom of science, while Xeno represents its power and the darker truths.

I absolutely love this episode and the contrasting themes shown throughout it. We now know that when these two will come face to face, things will be chaotic and pretty entertaining. Either the good will win or the bad will triumph, but at least the victory will go to science.
