Dr Romantic season 3 (낭만닥터 김사부3) is the latest season of the romance medical Kdrama of the same name directed by Yoo In-shik. The show stars Han Seok-kyu, Lee Sung-kyung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Joo-heon, So Ju-yeon, and Jin Kyung, alongside other cast members.
The new season brings the grand opening of Doldam Trauma Centre but with new challenges as Kim Sa-bu and his team face them in their professional and personal lives. As the scale of incidents and accidents that the hospital has to manage, the team has to provide top-quality care for their patients.
The show will have 16 episodes and be broadcasted on SBS on the Friday-Saturday slot at 10 PM previously occupied by Taxi Driver season 2. Dr Romantic season 3 episode 5 has a run time of 79 minutes.
The synopsis of the show reads:

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 5 begins with Ah-reum walking into Dong-hwa and Sun-woong who are in a compromising position while the scene is shifted to earlier that day when the best from the Doldam team are brought to the trauma centre. Tension soon rises between Woo-jin and Jin-man resulting in the former leaving and returning to Sa-bu’s side.
Given no choice, Sa-bu and Min-guk take on plan B and send Ho-joon as a replacement, while sending Nurse Oh to make sure nothing goes wrong. Meanwhile, Woo-jin and Eun-jae end in a dispute after the former asks Eun-jae why she never told her father about their relationship and if she is embarrassed.
Soon, the Friday ruckus begins with two emergencies being divided between the hospital and the trauma centre. A father-son duo who drank pesticide by mistake are taken to the hospital where Sa-bu, Woo-jin and Ah-reum begin treatment. Suddenly, the father goes into shock and Ah-reum begins trying to save him. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to bring him back and Ah-reum grieves.
At the trauma centre, victims of a collision are brought wherein the two adults are in critical condition and are taken for emergency treatment. Meanwhile, the teenager brought along with them is conscious and seems fine, thus, taken elsewhere to be treated later.
In-soo is accompanied by Ho-joon and begins treatment along with the others. Nurse Oh checks on the teenager and assures him that someone will soon arrive to check on him after which she tells In-soo about him. Elsewhere, Eun-jae calls for Sun-woong to observe and work alongside her while she treats her patient.
Back at the hospital, Woo-jin is told that Ho-joon will be taking part in a surgery alongside Jin-man when he continues to refuse to go back. Sa-bu tells him to put aside his prejudice and go back to the patients he is actually neglecting right now.
Woo-jin returns to the trauma centre and begins the surgery with Jin-man. As the two observe each other’s skills, they are both impressed and form respect for one another. At the hospital, Dong-hwa tries to check the ultrasound but is unable to understand.
Seeing this, Eun-tak tries to help him which offends Dong-hwa. Sa-bu intervenes and helps finish the ultrasound, however, Dong-hwa is not done yet. He asks Eun-tak to follow him and tries to later show his superiority as the doctor whose orders are to be followed by the nurse.
At the trauma centre, Eun-jae finishes treating her patients and proceeds to check on others when she comes across the teenager. Seeing the clip detached from his finger she goes ahead to put it on only to find his readings forming a flat line.
She begins emergency treatment to get him back, however, it is too late. In-soo arrives at the scene and is shocked because it was he who forgot about the patient. The teen’s mother soon arrives and is shocked by the sudden death of her son.
She is none other than the assemblyman who is in charge of approving the trauma centre’s support fund. Min-guk arrives to find this scene and tries to show his condolences. The grieve-stricken mother ignores his words and assures him that she will take this to court as it is the ignorance of the doctor in charge who brought upon this tragedy.
Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 5 Ending
Jin-man arrives at the scene and stands up to the assemblyman while taking the doctor’s side. He comes off strong leaving her unable to bring out her anger which the mother has to not bottle up. While his argument saved In-soo, Nurse Oh notices the wrong way in which he has handled the situation.

On the other hand, Eun-jae and Woo-jin soon end their dispute while the latter later shares a moment with Jin-man. Unaware that Jin-man now has his eyes on him and the rest of the team after the experience he had during the surgery.
Elsewhere, Dong-hwa continues to make mistakes with the ultrasound while Sa-bu continues to teach him. He then tells Dong-hwa to be more respectful towards the nurses and others on the staff to make a respectable doctor out of himself.
Sa-bu then goes to send the assemblyman who mocks the politics Jin-man played with her earlier. She is now determined to reply with politics and this will be faced by everyone at the hospital. After she leaves, In-soo approaches him with a traumatised look and tells Sa-bu that he will take responsibility for what happened.
Finally, the day ends and we see Dong-hwa and Sun-woong sneaking the ultrasound machine away to practise on each other. Ah-reum arrives at the scene, but before she could misunderstand she sees the machine and helps them after having a laugh.
Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 5 Review
The other side of this profession is once again brought out, and while we all wish for miracles it isn’t what we get every time. It also brought to us that even though one faces death more often in this profession, it doesn’t make them used to it.
Episode 5 highlighted the way death is faced by doctors and how a little neglection can result in a lifetime’s worth of guilt and trauma for the doctors themselves. Jin-man’s way of saving his doctor may seem right but it was not appropriate for this moment. While he became a hero for the staff, he has neglected In-soo who is in shock until the end.
Also, his greed for Sa-bu’s team which comes from his respect for their skills and wanting to get his hands on everything that he has is not one that suits him. And it looks like the real battle between him and Sa-bu is soon to begin.
Finally, this episode has been on the heavier side and with emotional moments that have pained us all.
