Dr Romantic Season 3 Ending Explained: What Is Next for Kim Sa-Bu and Doldam? Who Has Arrived?

Dr Romantic season 3 (낭만닥터 김사부3) is the latest season of the romance medical Kdrama of the same name directed by Yoo In-shik. The show stars Han Seok-kyu, Lee Sung-kyung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Joo-heon, So Ju-yeon, Yoo Yeon-seok and Jin Kyung, alongside other cast members.

The new season brings the grand opening of Doldam Trauma Centre but with new challenges as Kim Sa-bu and his team face them in their professional and personal lives. As the scale of incidents and accidents that the hospital has to manage, the team has to provide top-quality care for their patients.

The synopsis of the show reads:

AT DOLDAM, A SMALL COUNTRYSIDE HOSPITAL, KIM SA-BU WORKS WITH PASSIONATE YOUNG DOCTORS AND TREATS VARIOUS PATIENTS, DELIVERING HEALING TO MANY.

Dr Romantic Season 3 Ending Explained

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 16 brought an end to the amazing season of the K-drama that stole our hearts since day one and brought a powerful team together at Doldam. However, it also hid many easter eggs that fans have already begun discovering that may point to the show’s return.

Towards the end of the episode, we see everyone taking the next step in their lives. Woo-jin and Eun-jae’s relationship is no longer a secret in Doldam and the two decide to go all out now that their relationship is no longer hidden. As the duo prepare a housewarming/ farewell party, Dong-hwa spends time learning another lesson from Kim Sa-bu.

Kim Sa-bu reveals that he is aware that Dong-hwa is Jang Hyun-ju’s brother and hands the gift he had prepared for his student to him. He tells him to not feel pressured by the world and choose the road that he wants to take, and not one that would burden him. With Dong-hwa’s clinical rotation coming to an end, the others prepare a farewell party for him.

On the other hand, Ah-reum and Eun-tak talk about having a home of their own. Ah-reum expresses her wish of wanting to have a yard where their dog could run around with their child. This idea seems pleasant to Eun-tak who expresses his support before the two turn the chapter to hide their happy shy faces.

The two later make their way to the party where everyone has gathered together to spend a wonderful evening. As Dong-hwa recalls the answer Woo-jin gave him for being in Doldam, he announces to everyone that he has chosen Doldam for his next clinical rotation which means that he will be here for the next four months.

This surprises everyone present as they congratulate him with increased excitement. Suddenly, In-su gets a message which makes him rush to Doldam. There he sees his wife and daughter arrive and is surprised to know that they will now be visiting each week which fills him with joy.

Later, Woo-jin receives the gift prepared by Eun-jae for his birthday which gives him an idea. The next morning, he heads to Eun-jae to inform her before leaving. However, he sneakily slips the ring he prepared for her on her ring finger and it doesn’t take Eun-jae long to feel the anomaly.

She rushes out to Woo-jin and asks about the ring. When Woo-jin confirms her thoughts, she is unable to hide her excitement and rushes into his arms. Elsewhere, Min-guk finally gets the result from the provincial office and is overjoyed to find that the budget for the trauma centre has been approved.

He rushes to Kim Sa-bu and tells him the news after which the two congratulate each other for the hard work they put in. However, their celebration comes to a pause with the arrival of the officer from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He puts forth the changes that need to be made at the trauma centre and this is faced by Dong-ju and Min-guk.

Later, Woo-jin asks Dong-ju about his plans for the trauma centre. Dong-ju expresses his vision for the future that satisfies the needs of the people who are in need of medical care. He wishes that no one in the nearby area would have to be helpless when it comes to medical care. Instead, when it comes to such needs then he hopes to make Doldam their priority.

Adding on to this, he tells Woo-jin that this is just Level One of his plans and he needs a surgeon like Woo-jin to help him achieve this goal. Woo-jin then points at his injured left hand for which Dong-ju tells him that he has a capable right hand which can make up for the left hand.

Woo-jin can now feel his desires stir and decides to join the trauma centre staff to help achieve this goal. On the other hand, Kim Sa-bu and Assemblyman Ko talk about the result that has been achieved. Kim Sa-bu tells her that this is how mature revenge is taken and she tells him that the trauma centre needs to impress her each year for the renewal of the budget.

Kim Sa-bu’s phone then alerts him on incoming patients and he rushes to see the other doctors already taking care of the emergency. He then sees a vision of his first student Jang Hyun-ju in a doctor’s gown at Doldam which brings a smile to his face, following which he enters the room to provide his help.

Later that night, a taxi stops in front of Doldam and it is the return of Kim Sa-bu’s student- Yoon Seo-jung.

The episode ended on a satisfying yet open note as the door for another season remains open. From Kim Sa-bu’s new Rough Rock Project NS, which may have to do with neurosurgeons, to Woo-jin’s wrist and Seo-jung’s return; we can say that an even more powerful season may come to us following this season.

However, nothing regarding this has been confirmed and we cannot comment on the same. But this does not diminish our hope for another season of the Doldam Team.
