Dog gone is an upcoming feel-good movie based on a truly inspiring story. Directed by Stephen Herek, the movie is mostly adapted from the book written by Pauls Toutonghi. The plot revolves around a father and son trying to repair their fractured relationship while searching for their beloved dog, Gonker.

Nick Santora and Pauls Toutonghi are credited as the writers of the movie. Rob Lowe is the executive producer, followed by Claire Brooks, the co-producer and Jordan Schmidt and Michael J. Urann, the associate producers. Michael Martinez is the cinematographer, and Emily Bear gives the music.

Dog Cast Plot/Synopsis

The movie’s premise is about a beloved dog who is extremely intelligent and active. The family also adores the pet, but one fine day it goes missing. Everyone tries to find him the best they can, but they remain unsuccessful. It is crucial to find Gonker on time as he suffers from a life-threatening illness and needs special medicine to ensure his survival.

The family loses hope, but the father is determined to bring the pet home safely. The father-son duo hike on the Appalachian Trail in a desperate search for the dog. They meet various people who share similar stories along the way. Their journey attracts many people, and ultimately, it gets media attention. Newspapers and channels cover their story, which leads to a city-wide phenomenon of the dog’s search. Furthermore, many problems occur along the way, but they remain headstrong to find the dog and bring him back on time.

It’s pretty clear from the plot of the movie, that you’ll need a bunch of tissues to handle the emotional outburst of losing a pet. Moreover, the trailer of the film exudes a heartwarming vibe and also provides a deeper look into everlasting bonds. Notably, Rob Lowe was last seen in the romantic comedy feature Holiday in the Wind, alongside Kristin Davis. It revolved around a newly divorced woman Kate, who finds her solace in the wilderness of Africa.
