Doctor Slump Episode 8 Recap
The episode opens up with Ba-da’s commentary as he recalls how his sister has always been stuck to her books while he went around playing, having fun, and dating. Finally, the day has come when his sister has stepped into his world and has started thinking about her dating life. Meanwhile, Ha-neul is not sure if her dating life with Jeong-woo has begun yet.
She tries to ask her mother and uncle about her situation in a roundabout way but doesn’t get a satisfactory answer. However, Ba-da has caught on to what is happening and decides to take things into his own hands. Ha-neul goes to Jeong-woo to make things clear but is unable to ask him about their relationship status.
Right then Ba-da arrives making Ha-neul rush into Jeong-woo’s bathroom to hide herself. Jeong-woo opens the door for Ba-da and the latter begins telling him to stop fooling with his sister who is going mad thinking about their relationship status. This makes Jeong-woo understand what is happening and he assures Ba-da that he is indeed dating his sister and will make things clear to her.

Ha-neul overhears this and is shocked due to which she accidentally turns on the shower and gets drenched. Jeong-woo sends Ba-da out and rushes to Ha-neul who is now drenched and shocked by his statement. She asks him about it again and Jeong-woo admits that he cannot be friends with her anymore because he likes her too much to stay friends.
He then gets her a change of clothes following which he hands her flowers and asks her to go out on a date. Ha-neul returns in a good mood with flowers in her hands when Ba-da arrives and tells her that he has taken care of her problem. Ha-neul is reminded of how her brother talked to Jeong-woo about her and starts beating him up.
Elsewhere, Dae-young wants to contact Jeong-woo again when Hong-ran catches him and asks if he wants to talk to Jeong-woo after what happened the previous day, Dae-young tells her that it was someone else who picked up the phone and from his description, Hong-ran understands that it was Wol-seon who scolded him.
She tells him where Jeong-woo is and Dae-young rushes to meet his friend. Meanwhile, Jeong-woo is about to go out on his date with Ha-neul when Dae-young arrives and asks to have lunch with him. Jeong-woo doesn’t want to cancel his date for this but Ha-neul tells him to go as they can go later.
Under Ha-neul and Dae-young’s insistence, Jeong-woo ends up having lunch with the latter during which Dae-young puts forth a proposal. Later, Jeong-woo returns to go on his date with Ha-neul and sees her waiting for him. Right then, he gets a call from Kyung-min who wants to meet him but Jeong-woo is not ready to cancel his date for another meeting and declines Kyung-min.

He finally heads out on his date with Ha-neul which has been planned by her, however, his expectations come crashing down when he finds himself in the library with her. Jeong-woo is awestruck by Ha-neul’s wish to spend their first date while discussing dissertations and decides to take matters into his own hands.
He takes Ha-neul to the movies and begins the date that they both deserve. The two finally settle the excitement at a cafe where Jeong-woo points out Ha-neul’s habit of suppressing her emotions for others and tells her to not be like this when with him. He doesn’t want her to make way for Dae-young or anyone else as she doesn’t need to put others before herself when she is the one dating him.
He then asks her if there is any other reason behind her quitting work but Ha-neul denies it. However, Jeong-woo is not convinced and knows that there must be something wrong. Later, Ha-neul drops Jeong-woo home as she had always wanted to do that. Once home, Jeong-woo finds an invitation in his mailbox and it turns out to be from Kyung-min.
This surprises him as he goes about to call Kyung-min, however, he is unaware of the paling Ha-neul by his side whose traumatic memories are triggered. Ha-neul rushes home and is unreachable the next day. Jeong-woo understands that there must be something wrong with her and calls her repeatedly after intervals to check up on her.
He then heads to the psychiatrist but to his surprise, he spots Ha-neul crying in front of her psychiatrist. He later follows her and notices the sadness on her face, however, he is unable to understand the reason behind this. Later, he goes to Dae-young and rejects the job he had offered while telling him that he needs to be by someone’s side right now and cannot take up a job at the moment as she would feel dejected.

With this, Jeong-woo returns home but gets no news of Ha-neul. However, he is caught by Wol-seon and Ba-da and taken to their house for lunch. Ba-da then takes her to Ha-neul’s room to give him advice on how to propose to Ha-neul but is soon disrupted by his mother who calls him for help. Jeong-woo is speechless by his behaviour and puts the book he had taken out back in place.
Right then, he comes across a picture of Ha-neul with Kyung-min which raises many questions in his mind. Meanwhile, Ha-neul meets an old colleague and finds out about Kyung-min’s engagement to the daughter of a pharmaceutical company’s CEO which only happened due to his professor label. The label he got because of the dissertation written by Ha-neul.
Ha-neul remembers the talk she had with her psychiatrist as she poured out the feeling of guilt, sadness and anger that had been associated with her happy moments because it was one such happy day when she lost her father. Later, she met Kyung-min who was a helpful senior but soon turned out to be a nightmare who used her for his gain.

Now, he is getting into a profitable marriage because of her efforts and there is no way she is going to let him go without relieving her anger. She rushes to the place where he is having his farewell party and splashes a glass of beer on him before rushing out.
Elsewhere, Hong-ran comes across Dae-young who tells her about his talk with Jeong-woo. Hong-ran calls Ha-neul and tells her about how Jeong-woo rejected the job offered to him because of her which makes Ha-neul feel distressed. Later, she comes across Jeong-woo when walking back home and tells him that she wants to break up with him.
She apologises for not remembering the state she is in and dumping her burdens on him but she can no longer pull him back with her because of this she wants to break up with him. Jeong-woo is shocked but is not ready to let go of the hand he has finally held. But seeing Ha-neul being insistent, he hands over his umbrella and walks away while holding his tears.
Ha-neul watches him leave and cries her heart out in the rain.

Doctor Slump Episode 8 Review
We have finally come to the end of the first half of the show and this weekend has been the real rollercoaster of this show. From taking us high in the air with the Jeong-Ha ship, it didn’t take long for the show to drop us down in the depths of hell with their break up. And to add up, we even got Ha-neul’s past which only made us cry our hearts out.
This weekend has surely been a tearjerker for us all as the past stories of the Jeong-Ha couple have left our tissue boxes empty. However, the one scene that left us cursing out loud was the final scene of this weekend when our beloved couple broke up.
While we know that they are surely going to get back together, having to spend a whole week recalling their tears is certainly not going to be an easy task. However, there is no choice for fans except to practise their patience because next week will surely bring the medicine that will soothe our wounded hearts.
Altogether, this was yet another intriguing episode that has taken the drama to another level and we hope the plot keeps up the excitement.
