Captivating the King Episode 11 Recap
In a pivotal moment, Hee-soo informs King Lee In about the princess swap just as the Principal Director arrives to make a significant complaint. Myung-ha worries about the consequences, and Hyun-bo drops hints about knowing Maid Bun-yeong replacing Princess Jang-ryeong.
The King, furious at being deceived once again, confronts Hee-soo despite forgiving her in the past. Hee-soo reveals that the Principal Director discovered the swap when a court lady informed the Queen Dowager of Bun-yeong’s absence. Lee In, angered, threatens Hee-soo, but her confidence in his love prevents him from hurting her. She emphasizes that Interpreter Jung never saw the real princess, emphasizing the maid being sent on behalf of the genuine one.
Principal Director Park Jong-hwan intercepts the bridal convoy but cannot see Bun-yeong’s face, realizing she’s fake. Uncertain of the girl’s identity, he informs the King, aiming to arrest Hee-soo, Myung-ha, and Grand Prince Mun-seong. He claims Interpreter Jung is aware, leading Lee In to call Hee-soo to testify, revealing Jung’s approval.
To protect the secret, the King covers up the princess swap, infuriating the Principal Director, who threatens to involve Prince Rui. The King hints at execution if the truth surfaces. Sang-hwa warns Myung-ha and Eunuch Kim to stay silent, while Queen Dowager seeks information from Lady Dong, demanding something in return.
Hyun-bo, frustrated with the King’s cover-up, decides to fabricate evidence of a conspiracy involving Hee-soo, Myung-ha, and Mun-seong against the King. The King orders a safe house for Princess Jang-ryeong in Beijing and engages in a game of baduk with Mun-seong, teaching him about peaceful governance.
To escalate tension, the Principal Director reveals to Hee-soo that the King sacrificed him for the throne and betrayed Hang-soon without concern for his return. Confused and angered, Hee-soo meets the King on her way home. He expresses his feelings, asking her to stay beside him, promising an explanation soon.
Hee-soo confides in Dal-ha, stirring her anger with revelations about the King’s betrayal. Despite this, Hee-soo asks for more time to execute their plan. They involve Kim Je-nam in court, with the King appointing him Inspector General. Je-nam, however, withdraws from Hee-soo’s plan to place Mun-seong on the throne, believing the King to be kind, not a puppet. Undeterred, Hee-soo remains determined to act when the Principal Director attempts to seize the throne.
Meanwhile, Mun-seong keeps the sick Queen company, and Mong-woo suggests making him the Crown Prince to prevent harm. In a decisive moment, Hee-soo goes to the King, deciding to stand by his side, and they share a hug. Suddenly, thunder strikes, and the palace catches fire.
