Filthy Rich Episode 3 Review

[Minor Spoilers Ahead]

“You turned our holy sacrament into a wet T-shirt contest”– Margaret Monreaux

Filthy Rich Episode 3 continues what Margaret Monreaux (Kim Cattrall) started in the previous episode – an attempt to purify Ginger Sweet on her live show. That, however, turned into Ginger wearing a transparent gown into the holy water and mocking the sacrament, promoting her business SinWagon (Pornsite). Ginger agrees to come up on the show ‘Wings of a Dove’, where a conversation about prostitution and feminism takes place with sprinkles of religion and reference to the Bible. What follows is a fake crew member appearing on the stage and shaming Ginger by calling her names and throwing a drink on her!

It’s unclear whether it was planned by Margaret or she actually didn’t know this was going to happen but one thing was for sure, Sunny Club Subscription going up!

In a segment on Wings of a Dove, Ginger tells Margaret about her mother’s relation with her husband Eugene: “Eugene loved her. He came to her for salvation, and she gave him what you couldn’t.” Margaret feels horrible, of course, and lashes out at Ginger but in her mind, she justifies it by saying that after everything, he came home to her. However, while on set, she has to painfully sit stone-faced.

Filthy Rich Episode 03

“We build a bridge of forgiveness, we don’t mock or tempt. We will win Ginger Sweet back to Christ.” – Margaret Monreaux

Filthy Rich Episode 3 poses itself as a commentary on many controversial topics like prostitution, religion, and greed. Religion is the main theme and business of the Monreaux family and often time they exploit and use it for their own advantage. The Reverand, the so-called godman, is up to something fishy and we don’t know what yet – again a play with a religious face to exploit believers. Margaret and Reverand Paul are no religious people, as good and holier-than-thou they might seem to be. They decide to keep their low-income housing for the poor in dreadful conditions so that they remain poor and the business goes on!

After Ginger’s on-stage public humiliation, she says that she grew up watching Margaret’s show, she learned from her and always wanted to meet her. However, what happens to her is not just humiliating, but degrading as well, just because Christianity doesn’t allow her profession.
