There’s a lot of love on the stage of The Comedy Store as Bob Saget’s friends and family come together to film a tribute to the comedy star. Saget’s life is not new to his fans and admirers and his tragic death came as a shock to many. There are many downright rude, crass and lewd jokes made on stage, but America’s dad would probably be happy had he been on that stage – among all that lewdness, you know and feel the love and warmth people have for him.
Apart from these jokes, some very interesting and warm stories are shared about Saget as a person and his relationship with these people and others as well. These stories humanise Bob Saget and make you feel a bit misty – it’s just good vibes all around. Family and friends share stories and joke about donating penises to science, heartwarming songs are sung and there’s a general air of wistful happiness all around.

If you’re someone who loved Bob Saget, this is definitely something you should watch. However, it’s not always deep – sometimes it’s dark. More often than not, people talk about going to meet Bob in heaven soon enough. Similar jokes surrounding Saget’s death are made which honestly everyone takes in good spirit. It’s a sad occasion, but it’s still so funny. And, obviously, someone tells John Mayer that they want to have his babies – I get it.
Either way, the comedy special almost feels person and a tad bit uncomfortable to watch sometimes. In spite of a sizeable audience enjoying at The Comedy Store, us streaming platformers just seem like we’re looking into a private and intimate time like dirty peeping toms. I don’t know whether that’s because it’s surrounding the death of a beloved entertainer or whether these people just tell their bit with so much love and appreciation. But either way, it feels weird, humbling and very warm to be a part of it anyway.
At one point, musician Jackson Browne sings For a Dancer, as a tribute. Although Seth Greene shows up minutes afterwards to bring in some laughs, it’s a haunting and poignant moment in the show. That song can move anyone to tears given the setting. It was a great watch, truly.
Summing up: Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute

For lovers of Bob Saget, this is going to be such a sweet watch. It’s lovely and heartfelt and there’s a lot of love on that stage that’s quite apparent. Regardless, though, you’d still enjoy it – these comedians know what they are doing with those dark, lewd jokes!
Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute is streaming on Netflix.
