Delicious In Dungeon Episode 5 Review and Recap – Meet Kensuke, Laios’s Sword

This episode was way more grim than the previous episodes. The way it starts was pretty simple, and for a change, we got to see a different party who carry the same aspirations Laios and his teammates are carrying. The team leader, Kabru, is a humble and talented young man who does not boast about his achievements and is loved and respected by his peers.
We see them being a happy and enthusiastic bunch who believe they can be the ones to defeat the evil mage and claim the glory for themselves. And luck comes their way when they encounter a treasure chest full of gold coins and riches. But after that, they come in contact with Laois’s group, and from there, we again shift our focus to the original party.
Slowly, we are getting more and more information about the dangers of the dungeon. We see how there are so many creatures there that can easily kill anyone, and you won’t even know it. These creatures are master shapeshifters and possess unique powers, thus, dealing with them becomes all the more difficult.
But what this anime does nicely, is blend the serious scenes with comedic elements. Even in very severe and dangerous situations, you can count on funny moments that almost feel morbid at times. The way comedy is handled in the series is also very nonchalant as if all the characters here are unbothered by the hazards of their profession.
The recipe that was shown here was also very unique and definitely breathtakingly gorgeous to look at. Sadly, the ingredients are not at all appetizing, and many wouldn’t even think of eating them in a normal scenario. Senshi really is a master chef of dungeon cooking, as he can literally cook anything and everything with expertise.

Another thing that we saw in this episode is how useful the creature that Laios took with himself has become. Laios even named his sword’s creature Kensuke and is thankful that it actually saved him and his party from a very tragic fate.
Verdict
This was another really interesting episode that was pretty misleading in the beginning. Delicious In Dungeon is definitely darker than it seems from the outside, as you never know what might happen next. The adventure element is also more apparent now as we are getting additional info about the creatures of the dungeon.
