Seo In-guk as Choi Ji-yae
Growing up in a financially strapped family, Choi Yi-Jae possessed a bright and kind demeanour. However, after seven years of fruitless job searches, he’s overwhelmed by desperation and despair, leading him to contemplate suicide. Thinking it’s the end, he encounters Death, standing at the gates of Hell. Instead of oblivion, Yi-Jae is handed a punishment: he must endure death 12 more times, inhabiting different bodies. To escape the clutches of Hell, survival becomes his only way out.
Seo In-guk takes up the role, who is a renowned name in the industry. Although he began his acting journey in 2012 with Love Rain, it was his role in Reply 1997 that propelled his acting career. Since then, he has starred in various successful productions, including Pipeline, Navillera, Doom at Your Service, and Café Minamdang.
Park So-dam as Death
Death, personified as an entity, harbours resentment towards Choi Yi-jae for opting to end his own life. In response, Death devises a peculiar form of retribution, a sinister game. Death decrees that Yi-jae must endure the throes of death repeatedly, cycling through 12 distinct lives. Yet, amidst this grim cycle, a glimmer of hope emerges: should Yi-jae manage to defy the clutches of death in any one instance, he is granted the opportunity to live out the entirety of that particular lifetime.
Widely recognized for her exceptional acting prowess, Dam gained prominence through her notable role in the critically acclaimed film Parasite. However, she is set to make a triumphant return to the small screen following her courageous battle with papillary thyroid cancer.
