Planning to Watch David Holmes The Boy Who Lived? Here’s Everything to Know About the Upcoming Harry Potter Documentary

HBO’s upcoming documentary David Holmes The Boy Who Lived is dedicated to showing not only the magical side of the Harry Potter franchise but, also the reality that left one person in perpetual pain. The documentary based on the titular character who played the franchise’s main character’s stunt double promises to be a story that will overwhelm all.

The docu-film is by HBO Documentary Films in association with SKY, a Lightbox / Ripple Production. It is directed by Dan Hartley with producers Simon Chinn, Jonathan Chinn, Vanessa Davies and Amy Stares. The executive producers for the film include Daniel Radcliffe, David Holmes, Dan Hartley, Sue Latimer, Sarah Spahovic, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, Tina Nguyen and Poppy Dixon.

We will see the titular Holmes throughout the film from the time he used to be a stuntman and his present-day reality. Holmes’ friends and family members will also play a major role in the upcoming release. Apart from this, Daniel Radcliffe along with the former Harry Potter crew are also going to be a part of the movie.

HBO’s homepage on the documentary describes the plot in a strong paragraph. The description reads: “Gymnast David Holmes played Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double in the Harry Potter films until a tragic on-set accident left him paralyzed. With his life turned upside down, David’s extraordinary spirit of resilience becomes a source of strength and inspiration to everyone around him. Featuring intimate interviews with David, Daniel Radcliffe, friends, family, and colleagues, David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived reflects on living with adversity, forging a new identity, and the bonds that bind us together and lift us up.”

The film is going to cover how Holmes met with a tragic accident during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and how the incident changed his life forever. We will also witness his close friendship with Radcliffe and how Holmes resilience made him the man he is today.

The film will premiere on Max. It is set to arrive on the platform on November 15, 2023, at 9 PM ET/PT.
